The City of Oceanside dedicated its new downtown Fire Station 1 with a special community ceremony today that included a procession of pipes and drums from the historic 100-year-old Fire Station on Pier View Way to the new Station 1 on N. Freeman Street, nearby. Funding from Measure X, Oceanside's half-cent sales tax, supplied the project's major design and construction costs. This new Fire Station 1 adjacent to City Hall has been designed to accommodate larger ladder trucks and crews to better serve residents, businesses and visitors. In grateful appreciation of the many regional partners that aided in extinguishing the Oceanside Pier blaze in late April, the City of Oceanside held a special recognition lunch today at the Pier Amphitheater.?Due to collective coordinated actions, there were no injuries, and 93 percent of the beloved Pier was successfully saved.
