It was a great privilege to be invited to speak at the Maine Archives and Museums annual conference with Maine Preservation! Maine Preservation's Director of Programs & Services, Brad Miller, joined with Barba + Wheelock Architects' Director of Preservation, Liz Reynolds, to co-lead a session on understanding your historic building and applying for grants. Together, Brad and Liz "guided attendees on their proven pathways for pursuing-and winning!-competitive capital grants". "Key takeaways from the hour-long intensive included the framework for pre-development planning, including the importance of building conditions assessments. Liz and Brad shared with attendees their guidance on developing both a compelling grant narrative *and* a thoughtful and strategic budget that, together, tell the story of why a building and organization deserves support." #preserveme #preservation #maine #architecture
