Project Milestone: Benton County Crisis Center (BCCC) hard hat tour ?? As the BCCC rapidly nears completion, we've enjoyed touring the facility alongside the project team and Benton County. This groundbreaking project will offer both stabilization and residential care services in downtown Corvallis seeking to relieve overburdened criminal justice and hospital systems for residents experiencing mental health crises. Once finished, the BCCC will serve as a model for how behavioral health facilities can effectively address trauma while upholding the dignity and quality care of individuals. On Friday evening, I had the privilege of attending the Oregon Humane Society's Tail Wag event to support the incredible work they do for animals in need. My connection with OHS goes back to 1989, when my family adopted our first dog, a lovable wire-haired dachshund named Whiskers. Supporting OHS has always been a personal honor for me, and more recently, it's been a professional one as well. My team at Mahlum and I had the pleasure of working on the Digital Radiology project at the Salem campus alongside Patti M Miles and Walsh Construction Co. this past year. Exciting milestone at the new Haggett Hall!

I'm so excited to be participating in the Mass Timber Days at Oregon Institute of Technology in Klamath Falls next week! It feels great to work on such an amazing project that I have such a history with. The event spans two days, and gives Oregon Tech students a chance to see the new 85,000 SF mass timber residence hall. This project has been such a special experience for me, going from being a electrical engineering student at Oregon Tech and an RA for 3 years working with @Oregon Tech to being on the PAE design team for the new residence hall. I've been working on this project since early 2023 with Mahlum, and construction is going strong with Bogatay Construction, Inc. leading the way. I'm honored to be supporting the next wave of students passing through Oregon Tech! (guest appearance by Amanda Lauck in the photo) Shout out to Edward Worth, Casey Coulson, P.E., Dakota Kanner, Rafael Belloc, P.E., Zana Mays, Adam Langenstein. Here's to a new building for the next generations of RA's to watch over.

Did you know that utilizing mass timber is an effective method of reducing our carbon footprint? Oregon Institute of Technology’s new Residence Hall is a great example—the mass timber structure will reduce around 1,700 mt of CO2 compared to an equivalent concrete structure.
