MAGNOTHERM is a young, innovative company headquartered in Darmstadt, Germany. With industry-leading expertise in permanent magnets and magnetic cooling, our team of over 30 people dares to push new technology to market, applying science to create the best product possible. Our technology, based on solid state materials and water, is capable of replacing standard gas compression cooling or heating solutions in compliance with current and future f-gas regulation standards. Our developed cutting-edge energy conversion solutions allow cooling and heating with low pressure systems (approx. 0.5 bar) and is up to 30% more efficient than current systems. At the same time it complies with all current and future EU F-gas regulations, is explosion free and non-flammable. It is efficiently scalable in all sizes (from 0.5 to 5 kW) for thermal energy conversion units in decentralized, mid-range powered applications. With our 100% green technology, we are able to meet the world’s fast growing demand of clean and sustainable cooling and heating applications.

    Kühlung ohne K?ltemittel - mit #ECLIPSE! Bei ECLIPSE handelt es sich um einen Kaltwassersatz mit einer K?lteleistung von bis zu 1 kW und Kaltwassertemperaturen von 0°C bis 25°C. Das Besondere an ECLIPSE: Der K?lteprozess erfolgt mittels Magnetokalorik - also einem Prozess mit Metallen und Magnetismus sowie Wasser zur Temperaturübertragung. Da der gesamte Prozess ohne K?ltemittel auskommt, ergeben sich eine Vielzahl von Vorteilen. Das System ist somit sicher, frei von F-Gasen und frei von PFAS. Die europ?ische Norm DIN EN 378 ist nicht anwendbar und der Wartungsaufwand folglich gering. Mit einem Leistungskoeffizienten (COP) von bis zu 5, optimiert ECLIPSE den Energieverbrauch bei pr?ziser Temperaturregelung. Hervorzuheben ist, dass die Technologie nach den Prinzipien der Kreislaufwirtschaft entwickelt wurde und damit auch in dieser Hinsicht eine zukunftssichere L?sung für moderne Anforderungen in zahlreichen Anwendungsbereichen bietet. Sei es etwa in der Industrie-, der IT- oder auch im Bereich der Lebensmittel- und Getr?nkekühlung?– in diesem Fall integriert in unseren zweitürigen Kühlschrank ECLIPSE 2D. When evaluating additive manufacturing materials, MAGNOTHERM identified our Ultracur3D? RG 1100 B as the ideal resin for their prototypes and final parts. This rigid photopolymer delivered the strength, durability, and printability they needed. Initial tests confirmed the high mechanical performance and reliability promised in the data sheets. One of the most challenging parts to manufacture was the AMR component of the POLARIS system. With Creality 3D (CREALITY 3D Printers) and Ultracur3D? RG 1100 B, MAGNOTHERM successfully produced: ? Highly intricate fluid channels for efficient cooling liquid transport ? Integrated check valves to regulate cooling, simplifying assembly ?     MAGNOTHERM has made another breakthrough in magnetic cooling tech! Our materials team has successfully demonstrated that magnetocaloric alloys can be fully protected against corrosion and mechanical fracture when using water as an heat exchange medium, making La-Fe-Si alloys application ready. These crucial development efforts, led by company chemist Dr. Falk Münch and driven by Nico Wei?, Ulysse Rocabert, Cornelia Hoppe, Jens-Peter Zwick and Dr. Maximilian Fries, have been peer-reviewed and published in ACS Applied Engineering Materials under the title “Stable Operation of Copper-Protected La(FeMnSi)13Hy Regenerators in a Magnetic Cooling Unit.” (Link in comments) Timur S?RMAN, CEO of MAGNOTHERM, shares his thoughts on the significance of this milestone and recognition: “Showing that our coating process stays stable in-device underscores MAGNOTHERM’s ability to lead the way from the fundamental feasibility of magnetocalorics to actual applications. It is a huge step forward in terms of commercialization of magnetic cooling technology with a low-cost and high-performant alloy system.” This represents a significant step in paving the way for the broad commercial application of magnetocaloric cooling systems.     Throwback to One of MAGNOTHERM’s First Milestones: Exactly six years ago today, on January 17, 2019, we reached an exciting milestone: enjoying our very first magnetically cooled beverage, a .2L tonic! CTO Dimitri Benke shared his memory of that moment and how it feels to look back on it from today: “Back in the day, I was not able to imagine that we could have a company like this. From my current perspective, we were just playing around in the lab without a clue on what is going on. Objectively, the tonic was too warm. Subjectively it tasted great. We could only fit .2L in the heat exchanger at the time. It's amazing, that we can now cool down 1000L.” ? That moment was more than just a refreshing drink - it was the beginning of where we are today with MAGNOTHERM. There are many more milestones of innovation and progress to come!

    A heartfelt goodbye to an amazing intern at MAGNOTHERM! Brandon Worrell, a recent graduate of MIT – Massachusetts Institute of Technology - has completed his internship of six months with us, and we couldn’t be more grateful for his contributions. Originally from Georgia, Brandon pursued a degree in Mechanical Engineering with a focus on Product Design. During the exciting times of Chillventa and our #ECLIPSE product launch, he supported and contributed to our team both personally and professionally. His passion for green technologies and his ability to adapt and grow in our dynamic, supportive team were a very good fit for the company, and he will be very missed. Thank you, Brandon!

    ??Last year at COP28, the UN signed the Global Cooling Pledge, which had a massive impact on our work to build sustainable cooling solutions. What did the 29th United Nations Climate Conference discuss this year? #COP29 focused on mitigating the climate crisis through solidarity. From developed to developing countries, all of us must work together to build a new green economy, creating more jobs and better outcomes for all. The key takeaway is that wealthier nations pledged to triple their funding for the green economy in developing countries. As a climate tech company, we watched the proceedings with great interest. Reflecting on the year 2024, MAGNOTHERM has seen a lot of interesting tech developments coming out of the developed and developing world alike. We need to bridge the gap between ideas and their real-world application to keep this movement going strong.
