Our founder, Christina Salerno, often says I wish more ops professionals talked about how important it is to know what level of #operations strategy and infrastructure is needed based on the #growth lifecycle of a company. Think of operations as the blueprint, gears, wheels, mechanics, and hiring/training for the team that makes the "business" run. You will always have some level of operations, even if you're not consciously doing so. Early stage, when a company is still finding itself, its product/market fit, and a work in progress there will be a LOT of change. Over time, more clarity and direction will naturally develop for a company. Alongside of this, it's important to be developing the operational strategy and infrastructure as well. Too much operations, or not the right strategic approach of operations, and it will suffocate the necessary pivots that have to be made. Too little operations and you will need to throw people and effort at situations in order to keep everything going. Building out your team and infrastructure aligned with the company you are building AND the lifecycle stage it is at any given point is important to ensure it's sustainable and long-lasting. Otherwise you'll face burnout, team overwhelm, inefficiency, and simply will not be able grow further without it. It will feel like spinning your wheels and you can't figure out how to gain traction.
