A woman is facing charges for sex trafficking women across Maryland. After a two-year investigation, Kenika Danielle Leach, 33, of Baltimore, plead guilty for her role in orchestrating a multi-county sex trafficking operation. Leach pleaded guilty in Washington County Circuit Court to conspiracy to commit sex trafficking, distribution of cocaine, and receiving earnings of a prostitute. Her actions came to light in 2021, when a trafficking survivor disclosed what was going on with her to hospital staff, sparking an investigation. The investigation uncovered at least 11 women trafficked across Maryland. Leach and her co-conspirators transported these women to motels and hotels in areas such as Baltimore and Anne Arundel County, coercing them into performing sex acts. Leach exploited the women’s drug dependencies by controlling their access to cocaine and other substances. These “drug debts” were paid through forced sex acts, with the proceeds directly give to Leach. The investigation revealed disturbing methods of control. Leach allegedly used physical violence, ordering victims to “get on the wall” and cover their faces to conceal injuries. Intimidation and manipulation were also central to her operations, fostering a climate of fear and loyalty among the women. A former doctor at a Boston hospital was convicted in a Boston federal court Thursday of one count of attempted sex trafficking of a child. Sadeq Ali Quraishi, 47, was an anesthesiologist at Tufts Medical Center. According to investigators, in November 2022 Quraishi responded to an online advertisement offering commercial sex with two young girls, who were undercover agents posing as the seller of the girls. After texting details and agreeing to pay cash for the encounter with a 14-year-old girl, Quraishi got $250 from an ATM, drove to a Waltham hotel where he met with the alleged seller, and was given a key card to a room. He was arrested in the room with the money. Quriashi is scheduled to be sentenced on January 28, 2025, and could face a mandatory minimum sentence of 10 years in prison or a maximum sentence of up to life in prison, a term of supervised release of at least five years, and a fine of up to $250,000. #sextraffickingnews #breakingnews #EndHumanTrafficking #Humantraffickingnews #Magdalenasdaughters

A Maine doctor has been accused of sex trafficking after police say he was running an illicit massage business in Freeport. Police say 68-year-old Peter O’Donnell of Yarmouth was arrested on Thursday and charged with one count of sex trafficking. According to police, O’Donnell’s business, A. Envy on Route 1 in Freeport, served as a front for prostitution, with O'Donnell recruiting and employing people to perform sexual services for clients. Following an investigation by the Freeport and Brunswick police departments, authorities identified two people suspected to be victims of human trafficking. “Sex trafficking remains a serious issue across the nation, and Maine is not immune. This case highlights how some individuals misuse power, wealth, or influence to exploit others,” the Brunswick Police Department said in a news release.
