A statement from MAG following the announcement of a ceasefire in #Lebanon:
MAG (Mines Advisory Group)
非盈利组织
We do whatever it takes to get to a landmine before another child does — working with communities across the world.
关于我们
MAG's vision is a safe and secure future for men, women and children affected by armed violence and conflict. We have worked in more than 40 countries since 1989, to save lives and build futures by: ? Reclaiming land contaminated with the remnants of conflict, such as landmines, cluster munitions, bombs, shells and mortars. ? Finding ways to reduce the daily risk of death or injury for civilians. ? Creating safe and secure conditions for development. MAG shared the 1997 Nobel Peace Prize as a founding member of the ICBL (International Campaign to Ban Landmines), for its work to ban landmines.

This week in #SiemReap, MAG and The HALO Trust hosted a joint exhibition to celebrate women in mine action. The event featured photos by six talented female photographers, showcasing the stories of our staff in #Cambodia, #Iraq, #SriLanka, #Ukraine and #Zimbabwe. To open our event, MAG's Head of Policy and Strategic Partnerships, Director of Strategy for The Halo Trust, and the British Ambassador to Cambodia, Dominic Williams, all highlighted the importance of recognising the vital contribution of women to humanitarian mine action. ? Since early this year, we’ve worked with women photographers to document the experiences of our female staff and the role of women in rebuilding communities after conflict. A huge THANK YOU to Claire Wyatt from all of us at MAG! We are tremendously grateful for your support in highlighting MAG’s mission and raising vital funds for our life-saving projects around the world. Read more about Claire's journey here: https://buff.ly/3CI237T
In the last three months I have cycled 7000km from Mongolia to Azerbaijan! It has been an once in a lifetime experience crossing Central Asia alone! Challenging but incredibly rewarding and such kindness along the way. This ride has also been about raising money and highlighting a huge ongoing issue regarding landmines worldwide. I chose to raise money for the MAG (Mines Advisory Group) after spending four years in Cambodia and seeing their work out in the fields clearing and making land safe again for families! Recently it was such a pleasure to meet the MAG (Mines Advisory Group) team in Baku to discuss where the vital money raised is going. It was very special to meet you Jeanette Dijkstra , Elliot Ball and Lisa from the MAG Iraq team. Thank you to Louise Wells too for arranging this! Lastly a big thank you to everyone who has donated , especially to all the support and donations from Gifting Owl & Grasshopper Adventures - we have hit £8,000 km??

How can the world rid itself of landmines? There has been much progress and lots of learning but we know there is no silver bullet and no one-size-fits-all template. We have published two new papers that offer some important considerations and reflections ahead of the Fifth Review Conference of the Mine Ban Treaty in Siem Reap. This month, MAG marks 30 years of operations in Laos ???? Since 1994, 340,000 bombs have been cleared, 136km2 of land made safe and nearly 1.2 million people supported through clearance and risk education. MAG has been dedicated to fostering sustainable peace in Laos and we remain committed to the communities we serve. A sincere thank you to all our donors and supporters for their invaluable support and generous donations over the last three decades, enabling us to create a safer environment for all. ?? MAG US Chair and former US Ambassador to Laos, Dan Clune, reflects on these efforts. Explore the roots of our work through early photographs: https://buff.ly/3AIsqds
