In 1994, as a young Harvard University graduate at Electronic Arts (EA), he pushed to make Black players the default in?Madden National Football League (NFL), ensuring the game finally reflected the reality of the league. His advocacy led to?Madden NFL ‘95?becoming the first in the series to feature Black athletes on its packaging. But Bellamy didn’t stop there. He also added real NFL player names—a move that got him reprimanded but set the stage for future sports titles to embrace full authenticity. For Black gamers, this wasn’t just about graphics—it was about visibility. Bellamy’s work proved that representation isn’t just an idea; it’s a responsibility.
