In this WorldCargo News article, Anders Holm, Director, Global Sales & Service at MCI examines the complexities of establishing a standard efficiency test and how remote monitoring solutions as Sekstant can help identify real-world power savings: “We would definitely participate in such a test to prove the efficiency of Star Cool 1.1, and the focus around it is clearly beneficial, but there is an industry challenge present that all operators do not operate under the same conditions in terms of cargo, service network [and] the environment surrounding the reefer. ZPMC, the world’s largest terminal crane manufacturer, has partnered with MCI to supply 81 Star Cool Units (SCUs) for crane cooling at APM Terminals in The Netherlands. The primary function of the SCUs is to cool the “e-room” of the cranes, where the electronic drives are housed.
