MAED-Model for the Analysis of Energy Demand

?? Our latest research zeros in on the ???????????? ????????????????: balancing security, affordability, and sustainability. While optimizing supply-side solutions to accommodate renewable energy is crucial, we realized true systemic change requires a deeper understanding of demand —the often-overlooked driver of energy systems. In this study, we tackle this pressing issue for ?????????? with in-depth analysis of regional cooperation and electricity trading across ?????? ???????? ???????? ??????????. The study presents an integrated modelling framework. This framework combines an Energy System Optimization Model (????????), Model for Analysis of Energy Demand (????????), and Input-Output Analysis (??????). We developed and explored three plausible demand evolution scenarios—???????????????? ???? ?????????? (??????), ???????? ???????????????? ???????????? (??????), ?????? ???????????????????? ???????????? ???????????????????? (??????). By integrating these demand-side insights with the supply optimization model ???????????????? (an open-source Energy System Optimization Model). Our research identifies actionable pathways to: ? Diversify energy mixes, ? Reduce fossil fuel dependency, ? Enhance economic resilience through regional electricity trade. Additionally, we assess the feasibility of Egypt’s 42% renewable energy target by 2035 under a dedicated policy scenario. This course has equipped me with essential skills in evaluating future energy demands through medium-to-long-term scenarios, considering socio-economic, technological, and demographic developments. I have also gained insights into MAED-D for comprehensive energy demand projections and MAED-EL for forecasting hourly electric power demand across various sectors. Last week i presented my research on COunty REsolution energy Demand (CORE-D) modelling using the Model for the Analysis of Energy Demand (MAED) for all 47 counties in Kenya at the annual CCG and UKPACT workshops in Sagana, Kenya. The research employs a downscaling methodology to acquire county resolution energy balances and collects best available social, economic, and technical county data within Kenya to create a series of ‘demand starter data kits’ overcoming historic barriers to county energy planning and research within kenya of data and resource availability. Over the past week i had the exciting opportunity to enroll for and complete the course Energy Demand Projections with MAED (Model for Analysis of Energy Demand) through Climate Compatible Growth #CCG Through this course, one learns how to use the International Atomic Energy Agency (International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA)) modelling tool MAED for demand projections. Specifically two components: MAED-D which evaluates future energy demands based on medium- to long-term scenarios of socio-economic, technological and demographic developments, and?MAED-E.L. forecasts hourly electric power demand for each client, sector, and the entire system based on the input data.
