In honor of Veterans Day, we’re spotlighting two of our Madison Air entrepreneurs,?Scott Ness and?K. Charles Mullenger. Scott, Director of Operations at?Nortek Air Solutions, LLC Air Solutions, served in the US Army at US Army Garrison Fort Carson.?Reflecting on what #VeteransDay means to him, Scott shared, “This day evokes feelings of pride and brotherhood, and serves as a reminder that I am in a great class of people who have served our country.” Scott credits his military experience with sharpening his work ethic, attention to detail, and dedication to teamwork.?A true leader, Scott recently celebrated 28 years at Nortek. Charles, GM of Growth Verticals and VP of Strategy at?Nortek Air Solutions, LLC Air Solutions, was a Captain in the Field Artillery after graduating from?United States Military Academy at West Point. About Veterans Day, Charles shared, “This day is an acknowledgment of the commitment and shared values that unite those who have served. It’s about the courage and the selflessness that we carried with us, willing to go where we were needed, even when it meant personal risk.” His time in the military taught him the importance of leadership, problem solving and grit – traits that complement the Madison Air values of #Trust #BiasforAction and #Entrepreneurship. ? Thank you, Alexandre, for inspiring future STEM talent and bringing innovation to life at Madison Air!?
Today is National STEM Day (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics). To celebrate, we’d like to introduce you to Alexandre Nasr, a Sales and Application Candidate to the Engineering Profession at our St-Léonard-d'Aston plant in Quebec. He's set to pass his Engineering licensing exam next week! Alexandre has always been fascinated with understanding how things around him work—and applying that knowledge to create something. One of his core childhood memories is setting up toys so that one would activate the next like dominoes, and watching with bated breath as something he had imagined came to life. That set the foundation for becoming an engineer. Says Alexandre, “There’s nothing like envisioning something that doesn’t exist, putting in a lot of work, and being rewarded with something real and tangible (and sometimes useful)!” As a Sales and Application CEP, Alexandre’s day-to-day consists of working on requests from our Sales Representatives for all kinds of HVAC projects, by designing and pricing units within our product offering that meet the outlined requirements. He usually goes back and forth with the Sales Representatives on different configurations, optimizing for the specific needs. “Once a project is sold, I am then tasked with managing it through production and shipping, and of being the bridge between the internal engineering teams and end clients,” Alexandre shares. “Since I am usually working on many projects at once, it’s an important skill to manage my time, prioritize requests adequately, and communicate timelines and expectations effectively.” One of the things Alexandre loves about his job is the way in which it highlights both his technical and relational skills. “I’m tasked with both understanding our product offering and clients’ needs on a project,” he says, “the more proficient I am at both tasks, the better suited the solutions I put forth will be.” Since Nortek Air Solutions’ products are custom, there’s a vast sea of knowledge and mastery to tackle, and he loves watching his ability to make connections and recognize solutions grow. “It’s also one of my favorite things to walk the factory floor and recognize the units that I designed with the help of the team come to life,” he says. Alexandre has some terrific advice for anyone interested in pursuing a career in STEM: strive to create something and feed your curiosity in the process! “It can be anything from a piece of software to a Rube Goldberg machine or a ramp to jump on a bike," he shares. “Set a realistic goal and let your curiosity drive you to find the information you need to achieve it and build it. With the internet, we’re in an information age where nothing is inaccessible and the barriers to entry have been knocked down, so it’s important to channel this opportunity towards growth!” Thank you, Alexandre, for your contributions to our company, the industry, and to inspiring future STEM workers! ?? #STEM #Engineering #NortekAirSolutions
