Check out my latest blog article with Mitch Dolman on the administration's Executive Order requiring modernization of defense acquisition processes! The EO requires the Department of Defense to incorporate commercial solutions and streamlined acquisition pathways into their procurements, and requires a comprehensive review of major defense acquisition programs for the purpose of identifying programs for potential cancellation. Given the far-reaching implications of the EO to the defense industrial base, this definitely is a must-read for anyone doing business with DoD.

Two important Executive Orders on #acquisition from our client alerts: "Restoring Common Sense to Federal Procurement," which launches a major reform of the federal acquisition system by directing a comprehensive review of the FAR. The Order states that “the FAR should contain only provisions required by statute or essential to sound procurement, and any provisions that do not advance these objectives should be removed. https://lnkd.in/e_U76Zmq "Enforcing Commercial Cost-Effective Solutions in Federal Contracts," focusing on prioritization of commercially available products and services, which directs contracting officers to review all pending contracts for non-commercial products or services and submit proposed waivers justifying their necessity within 60 days. Legislative Wins for Small Businesses! The Senate Small Business Committee has taken an important step in strengthening support for entrepreneurs by passing two key bills: ✅ S. 1047 – Assisting Small Businesses Not Fraudsters Act  This bill ensures that individuals convicted of defrauding the government are prohibited from receiving assistance from the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA)—keeping critical resources available for those who truly need them. ✅ S. 1093 – Coordinated Support for Rural Small Businesses Act  This legislation establishes an Assistant Administrator dedicated to improving capital access and investment in rural areas, ensuring that small businesses in these communities get the support and funding they need to thrive.
