Giving Tuesday is less than two weeks away! Mark your calendar for December 3, when Madison Public Library Foundation will offer a great opportunity to join in this global celebration of generosity. A family with a passion for audiobooks and eBooks is providing a $15,000 matching gift for Madison Public Library (Madison, WI)’s digital collection. Contributions to our foundation made on Giving Tuesday will double your impact! These donations toward eBooks, audiobooks, and digital magazines will reduce long wait times for library patrons. Keep your eye on our social media accounts on Giving Tuesday, when we’ll share stories from library patrons who rely on easy access to digital books for lifelong literacy and learning.?

What a night we had at?Madison Public Library (Madison, WI)'s Central Library on November 8 for Ex Libris Vol. XIV: Local Flavor! Our annual fall fundraiser was an overwhelming success, bringing nearly 600 guests together and raising essential funds for the library to serve our community both inside and outside library walls. We grossed almost $115,000, including nearly $30,000 raised in the online auction — an all-time record! About two dozen guests signed up for their first library card, and 130+ got artsy in the?Bubbler?with a community artmaking project led by Artist-in-Residence Victor Castro, aka?TetraPAKMAN. Bidders in our online auction won beer packages, tickets to sporting events and performances, original art, and much more! Items were generously donated by local businesses and library lovers. We also had nearly 300 people participate in a scavenger hunt that helped them learn about the many ways they can use their library card. Thank you to our 37 local tasting partners for their delicious food and beverage samples, and to all our sponsors, including Presenting Sponsor?Scooter Software?and so many others, for helping us build better libraries every day. Madison Public Library Foundation recently awarded Madison Public Library (Madison, WI) Customer Service Associate Isabella “Izzy” Marini the Elizabeth Moon Proctor Scholarship. Established in memory of Elizabeth “Betsy” Moon Proctor, who enriched Madison Public Library from 1967 until her retirement in 1996, the scholarship is designed to support Madison Public Library employees planning careers in library and information studies. A Customer Service Associate since fall 2023, Izzy is in her second year in UW–Madison’s master’s program for Library and Information Studies. In addition to working for the library, she assisted in the September opening of Waagax Hakiruxura Hosto, the first Ho-Chunk Library. After she completes the master’s program, she hopes to work as a reference librarian at Madison Public Library. Congratulations, Izzy!

Madison Public Library (Madison, WI) Youth Services Librarian Rebecca Millerjohn recently led her final storytime in Central Library’s children's area. Rebecca has worked for the library for nine years and has been a phenomenal employee in all her positions. She is leaving her role to become the UW–Madison School of Computer, Data and Information Sciences Commons Director. We’re sad to see her go but SO excited for her to train future librarians! Thank you for all your work, Rebecca!?
