Madison Gas and Electric (MGE) is a regulated natural gas and electric utility headquartered in Madison, Wis, the state capital and home to the University of Wisconsin-Madison. MGE is the primary asset of MGE Energy (Nasdaq: MGEE), an investor-owned public utility holding company. MGE’s roots in the community date back to 1855. Madison Gas and Electric generates and distributes electricity to 163,000 customers in Dane County, and purchases and distributes natural gas to 176,000 customers in seven south-central and western Wisconsin counties.
