The Madison County Employment and Training Department’s primary responsibilities are to administer employment and training programs under the Workforce Innovation & Opportunity Act (WIOA) and other state and federal funding sources. A focus of Madison County Employment and Training is to create partnerships between business and government that will establish services that prepare customers for employment. The Madison County Employment and Training Department serves Madison, Bond, Jersey, and Calhoun Counties. All the services offered by the department are designed to assist either business or job seekers. These services include job listings, employment training, skills assessment, career counseling, job search assistance, vocational training, on-the-job training, recruitment assistance, youth employment and training, job and career fairs, referral services and many other types of employer/employee assistance. The Madison County Employment and Training Department has offices in both Madison and Bond Counties. There are offices located in the Southwestern Illinois workNet Centers in Wood River and Greenville. The administrative office is housed in the Madison County Wood River Facility.

Thanks to David Boulay, President of IMEC, for sharing his expertise with the Madison, Bond, Jersey, Calhoun Local Workforce Innovation Board at this morning’s meeting.?David provided information on current issues facing the manufacturing sector, (the same as most other sectors), the current trends in training, and the future of manufacturing in the United States. IMEC is an important partner in LWIA 22.?Ryan Langdon our local IMEC rep works closely with local business to assist in upskilling their workforce.?The partnership at the state level with IMEC continues to grow for us with other opportunities in the future specific to our growing aviation and aerospace sector in the St Louis Region.?

A program designed to serve out of school youth, 16-24 years of age. YouthBuild is a unique contextualized career pathway program designed to prepare young adults to complete their State of Illinois High School Diploma while gaining skills in construction trades, computer careers, solar installation and welding. Students attend Illinois High School Diploma Classes on Mondays/Wednesdays 9 – 3:30pm, YouthBuild/ Training T/Th/F 8:30-3:30pm. Training includes an hourly stipend while attending. Eligibility: 16-24 years of age and out of school Certificates Earned: CPR/ First Aid & OSHA 10, Industry Recognized Construction Certification and Illinois High School Diploma Location: Training/Classes will take place at our Scott Bibb Center (1004 E. 5th St., Alton) Next Cohort starts: May 19th, call now to enroll, participate in orientation and basic skills assessment
