Enhancing the common good through philanthropy
关于我们
Madison Community Foundation's mission is to enhance the common good through philanthropy. Created in 1942 as Madison Community Trust, MCF helps people do their charitable giving their way, to causes they care about most. By starting a named endowment fund, giving to a Community Impact Fund, a fund that supports a favorite cause or nonprofit, or a variety of other funds, donors become catalysts for good today and for generations to come. As the community’s foundation, MCF plays a vital role in local philanthropy. MCF is unique in its deep knowledge of the community and philanthropic expertise. Together with donors and the nonprofits they support, MCF strives to help the Madison area become a vibrant and generous place where all people thrive. MCF is a tax-exempt, 501(c)(3) community trust, as designated by the Internal Revenue Service. Contributions are deductible to the fullest extent of the law. Endowment fund assets are invested in either a broadly diversified or socially responsive portfolio. Charitable distributions can be made to any charity throughout the United States, and can benefit people and support charitable causes close to home and around the world.

In our latest blog post, MCF's Director of Research & Advocacy, Andy Davey, recounts his experience and lessons learned as a participant in the 30th annual cohort of Leadership Greater Madison. "One of the things I found most valuable about LGM was how it encouraged all of us to be in a constant posture of curiosity, to push outside of our professional bubbles. Through the thoughtful facilitation of Lynn Wood, the program director, we were encouraged to be curious about critical issues in our community and about each other, about the very different fields and organizations we came from and build relationships grounded in a shared civic commitment to Madison. I worked hard to stay curious, and it led to some great connections," recalls Andy. Read the full blog post on our website:

United Way of Dane County announced at the AFP Greater Madison's annual celebration of Philanthropy Day last night that it is joining Madison Community Foundation (MCF) as a Founding Partner for the new Irwin A. and Robert D. Goodman Nonprofit Center, providing ongoing annual funds to support the Center’s programming. This brings the Center closer to realizing its full potential for providing professional resources for nonprofit organizations in the Greater Madison area. “Our investment in the Goodman Nonprofit Center is another way we can work together with MCF to support the nonprofits doing so much work for the people of Dane County,” said Renee Moe, President & CEO of United Way of Dane County. “The Center will help nonprofits become more effective, efficient and strategic. And it’s an honor to help extend the Goodman brothers’ legacy. Irwin and Bob continue to strengthen the community and nonprofits they loved.” For more information on the Goodman Nonprofit Center, visit our website: https://buff.ly/3ZheWPn

MCF's Director of Research & Advocacy, Andy Davey, sat down with Judith Davidoff to discuss the Goodman Nonprofit Center for the November 2024 Nonprofit Issue of the Isthmus. “Wisconsin is one of only three states that doesn’t have a statewide nonprofit association,” says Davey. “Not only did we not have a statewide group, we didn’t have a local one,” he adds. “So there’s just this huge gap in infrastructure.” See the full article for more information on the timeline of the Nonprofit Center and how they idea for it came to fruition.
