MACCU was in Washington DC speaking with YOUR elected members of the US Congress earlier this month at Hike The Hill! Of particular note we had the great pleasure to speak one on one with Senator Baldwin, Rep Van Orden, Rep Steil, Rep Fitzgerald, Rep Grothman and the staff of the rest of the WI delegation. We also got a regulatory update from the NCUA and an election update America's Credit Unions. We covered important issues, specifically Interchange, Tax Status, CU fraud liability, and current lending issues. We thank those who came to help bring voice to the 3.8 million CU members in Wisconsin. As always the staff of The Wisconsin Credit Union League did a phenomenal job organizing and supporting our advocacy efforts. We had the distinct honor to congratulate Brett Thompson on his 23 years of service and welcome Sarah Wainscott to filling his shoes in 2025. What a night! We saw a lovely sunset, the Capitol, Union Terrace, and most importantly YOU! Thanks for making our first event of the season a huge success! Your President Tina Liegel, CUDE gave us a wonderful welcome and intro to the season. Aaron Campbell gave us a The Wisconsin Credit Union League Hike The Hill Legislative update and reiterated why bringing YPs to MACCU can grow your CU and encourage innovation. Our Credit Unions, as Non-Profit Member Owned Coops, reinvest back into our communities or by providing services at no charge. A change in tax status jeopardizes our benefit to those in need and the benefit we give to the people of Wisconsin at large.
