MISSION: To End Veteran homelessness in Minnesota
关于我们
Minnesota Assistance Council for Veterans (MACV) is a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit that provides homeless veterans, or those at risk of being homeless, and their families with housing assistance and a network of supportive organizations to alleviate the obstacles and provide security for the future. We are dedicated to ending veteran homelessness in Minnesota by building a unified system of resources and relationships driven by our passion to give back to those who served us first. In the past 3 years, MACV has responded to have 10,000 request for support in housing Minnesota Veterans. TRANSITIONAL HOUSING Some of the homeless veterans MACV serves are placed into its transitional housing program. The Transitional Housing program is designed to provide housing and appropriate support services to homeless persons to facilitate movement to independent living within 24 months. EMERGENCY ASSISTANCE MACV assists homeless veterans and provides supportive services to prevent homelessness (for veterans and their families). Services can include direct payments to assist with rental assistance, transportation, utilities, food/clothing, car repairs and are evaluated on a case by case basis during initial intake process. EMPLOYMENT MACV provides homeless veterans with jobs assistance and related supportive services. CIVIL LEGAL ASSISTANCE Legal concerns with the most critical impact on a veteran’s employability are served first. To successfully address a homeless veteran’s legal issues while not duplicating services already available, MACV has established community partnerships with community service organizations and law firms. Vetlaw utilizes new, unique approaches to increase employment and job retention. The program removes barriers impacting stabilized living and employment by directly addressing, and removing, a multitude of legal issues homeless veterans face.

For more than 30 years, MACV has served as the state’s premier nonprofit organization focusing on aiding and supporting Veterans who are experiencing homelessness or facing other challenges. With offices and housing options throughout Minnesota, MACV works to ensure that Veterans and their families have access to stable housing, employment opportunities, and other essential resources.

Big News: Hennepin County has reached a significant milestone – we've effectively ended Veteran homelessness! ?? While there is still work to be done, we are taking a moment to celebrate this remarkable achievement alongside state leaders, lawmakers, county social workers, and employees. It's important to clarify that "effectively ending" Veteran homelessness means that when a Veteran does experience homelessness, the system is equipped to respond quickly and help them secure stable housing. This milestone puts Minnesota on track to become the fourth state in the nation to achieve this goal across all counties, making Hennepin County one of the largest U.S. entity to reach this landmark achievement. Thank you to our key supporters, Minnesota Department of Veterans Affairs (MDVA), Minneapolis VA Health Care System, Hennepin County?, U.S. Senator Tina Smith , U.S. Senator Amy Klobuchar, NATIONAL COALITION FOR HOMELESS VETERANS?, and countless others!
