??Happy National Recycling day! ?? ? On this day, MacroCycle is thrilled to announce its first shipment of upcycled product to a commercial customer for testing and full circularity evaluation! ? Going from lab into “reality” is a critical milestone of ClimateTech entrepreneurship. This small batch is the beginning of scaling into much larger test batches as we continue to work with a number of high-profile customers that are excited about our product. We are excited to continue developing the lowest-carbon, highest-quality PET from currently unusable plastic wastes together with our commercial partners. This batch was prepared from a lower-value PET waste considered a contaminant in existing bottle waste streams given the degraded polymer chains and impurities of the material. Congrats to our R&D team members of Jan-Georg Rosenboom, Thanaphorn Feinberg, PharmD, MS and Andrés A. Granados Fócil for this great accomplishment. ? MacroCycle Technologies has officially graduated from the prestigious Breakthrough Energy Fellowship Program! Jan-Georg Rosenboom and Stwart Pe?a Feliz have been extremely privileged to participate in this program as part of their Cohort 3, which has launched the company towards greater scale! A special thank you to the business fellows Madhav Acharya and Alice Havill for your countless assistance into our technical and business challenges, Brenda Haendler and Rosemary Cox-Galhotra for your monthly support, and to the rest of the fellows team and cohort mates for navigating this journey with us. MacroCycle was able to get started because of this Fellowship. Our first New York Climate Week #NYCW was a great experience! From early morning "outrun CO2" workouts, to workshops organized by our mentors and colleagues at Breakthrough Energy , Closed Loop Partners, EY-Parthenon, Munich Re Ventures, all events were very appreciated. It is fantastic to see so many like minded professionals and cleantech enthusiasts put their passion into solving big problems in climate and circularity. We learned from old and new friends about their journey, and especially a whole Tuesday filled with FOAK (first-of-a-kind) financing options was very useful for our company goals in the not too distant future. Meanwhile, a few blocks down from the climate workshops, the United Nations General Assembly #UNGA featured a session aimed at preparing for the Global Plastic Treaty talks in Busan later this year (INC-5). Production caps on virgin fossil-based plastics are now supported by the US and several other countries (which would be a boon for recycled plastics). While we strive to build a polymer technology that is economically competitive with oil-based plastic, we will keep an eye on this development.

Congratulations to California State Senator Josh Newman! SB 707 has been signed into law by Govenor Newsom. This is the first U.S. state to pass a textile EPR bill, which aims to hold producers accountable for the reuse and recycling of apparel and footwear sold in the state of Califonia. ACT is proud to have closely collaborated to shape significant bill improvements over the past year. Some of the issues we advocated for: -Reuse, along with Recycling and Repair, funding -A more inclusive Recycling technology definition -Mailback and in store collection included among the viable collection points -Private and Non-profit participation in supporting sorting, reuse, and recycling. -A needs assessment -Funding that supports a waste heirarchy -Eco modulation -Market dynamic support
