?? As a member of the ACT (American Circular Textiles), our CEO Stwart Pe?a Feliz joined the Executive Lobby Day in Washington DC, advocating for policies to encourage textile circularity. At MacroCycle Technologies, we are engaging with policymakers to address and educate on a variety of strategic topics, including how innovation in chemical recycling will be required to create a fully circular economy. We are doing our part in demonstrating that chemical recycling is more than plastics to oil, but the pathway towards upcycling end-of-life materials that cannot be repaired, reused or mechanically recycled. Smart legislation and incentives armed with this knowledge will allow sustainable businesses to grow and thrive, while we unleash our domestic manufacturing and increase our supply chain resiliency, which is critical with our current environment and recent news. Great to connect with leaders in government, including with the offices of Senator Ed Markey, Senator Sheldon Whitehouse and Congresswoman Chellie Pingree. We would like to thank the ACT (American Circular Textiles) and Rachel Van Metre Kibbe for making it happen, and to our circular economy peers GAMBERT SHIRTMAKERS, Project Repat, Circ?, Garson & Shaw, LLC, USAgain, Vestiaire Collective, unspun?, and ThredUp for their collaboration in advancing this crucial dialogue. #CircularEconomy #PolicyAdvocacy #Sustainability

We’re excited to join ACT (American Circular Textiles) in advocating for smart policies that strengthen U.S. domestic textile supply chains and keep the U.S. competitive in textile manufacturing and recycling on the global stage. ? Each year, the US sends millions of tons of textile waste to landfills—a massive missed opportunity to recover and reuse valuable materials through recycling. At MacroCycle, we believe that addressing this systemic challenge requires a systemic solution, and policymakers have the power to help unlock it! ? Stay tuned for updates from our CEO, Stwart Pe?a Feliz, who is in D.C. this week, engaging with legislators on this critical issue. Thanks to Rachel Van Metre Kibbe and the #ACT coalition for the warm welcome!
We're thrilled to welcome our newest member, MacroCycle Technologies! Founded by MIT researchers, MacroCycle is commercializing a technology that will upcycle textile waste into "virgin-grade" polyester resin and non-degraded recycled cotton. MacroCycle's technology produces a drop-in solution for current textile manufacturers, while bypassing the need for toxic chemicals.

"It takes a village to raise a startup." With the official announcement of our seed round, I wanted to thank every person that has helped me, and Jan-Georg Rosenboom reached this opportunity to scale up our venture! Last week, we were able to celebrate with many of them at the Martin Trust Center for MIT Entrepreneurship, which is the very place where we incorporated as a venture. But there are many more people not pictured during our celebration who helped us get here. Thank you to the faculty (Tod Hynes, Libby Wayman, Francis O'Sullivan, Jacquelyn Pless) and our project mates (Dhruv Pillai, Kevin Zhang, Maude Hoffmann, Maya Patel) from the Climate & Energy Ventures class where Jan and I met for your early support! To the delta v community (Bill Aulet, Paul Cheek, Ben Soltoff, Jenny Larios Berlin, Macauley Kenney, Greg Wymer, and many others) for catalyzing our development to start running off the ground! And to our mock board members (Dave Anderson, Donald Shobrys, Elise Strobach, Josh Adler, Patrick Todd) for guiding us through that sprint! To the Breakthrough Energy Fellows community (Ashley Grosh, Rosemary Cox-Galhotra, Brenda Haendler, Jolene Gurevich, Matt Purdy, Benjamin Gaddy) for the capital to get us started and great wisdom from being the leaders in this industry! And lastly, to the interns (Elizabeth Huang, Sooahn Lee, Jessica Wei, Nisha Patel, Becca Sandercock, Beatrice Casartelli, Akorfa Dagadu, Helen Gao, Katelyn Howard, Kenneth Oranga, Annabella Gong, Fakhri Guniar) that have been the power behind so much of our development till date! The MacroCycle Technologies team is thankful and we look forward to continue our scale up journey as we all create a cleaner environment for everyone! Thank you. #Support #Thankyou

?? MacroCycle Technologies is thrilled to share the closing of our oversubscribed $6.5M Seed Round!! Plastics are fascinating materials, but also some of the most wasteful materials on the planet. Their benefits come at the cost of pollution, as they end up in landfills and oceans, and contaminate our food supply. A cost-effective and safe technology is needed to close the loop on plastics. That’s what we’re developing at MacroCycle every day. With this funding round, we are now one step closer to this reality as we expand the team and operations to establish MacroCycle's upcycled PET as the most sustainable & affordable circular plastic solution in the market! We are grateful to be backed by a terrific consortium of experienced high-profile investors. Thank you to our co-lead investors, Clean Energy Ventures, a Boston-local climate tech powerhouse and Volta Circle, who is closely linked to IVL, the largest PET recycler in the world. We are excited to leverage their extensive network and cumulative expertise to overcome the challenges ahead scaling up tough tech. Additionally we have the sharp teams at KdT Ventures & Neotribe Ventures on board. That said, MacroCycle would not have been able to get here without the support of our earlier believers - Thank you, Breakthrough Energy Fellows program, for the first infusion of capital into the company. And to Republic, Supply Chain Ventures, Collaborative Fund & Arrigo Bodda for being the first believers of what MacroCycle can accomplish. These are exciting times at MacroCycle, as we continue to seek technological breakthroughs expanding the limits of what is possible in efficient packaging & textile recycling. Please follow along our journey to stay tuned with further news, and please do reach out if you would like to assist us in accomplishing this mission. Together, we can create a cleaner future, for everyone! Read more: https://lnkd.in/e_ueWTPv #SeedRaise #Circularity #Innovation

Recently released findings from Elsa Olivetti show the "abysmal" rate of plastics recycling. A bottle deposit program could improved recycling rates from 24% currently to 82% if implemented nation-wide — at a cost of only 1 cent per bottle with robust demand.

To start the new year, we wanted to announce MacroCycle Technologies's latest addition to the team, Bront? McGarrah as our Head of Partnership! Bront? joined us at MacroCycle in November, bringing a wealth of experience in driving innovation and fostering strategic collaborations in the cleantech space. Prior to MacroCycle, Bront? spent over five years at GoogleX’s Moonshot Factory, where she served as Program Manager for a portfolio of groundbreaking climate initiatives, including a pioneering project focused on plastics circularity. She began her career in Boston’s cleantech startup ecosystem at Greentown Labs where she played a pivotal role in government relations and partnership development. With her track record of accelerating impactful solutions in circularity and sustainability, we’re thrilled to welcome Bront? to the team!
