The Macomb Area Chamber of Commerce welcomes a new Executive Director. Steven Brody joined the Macomb Area Chamber of Commerce in 2024. He was previously the Executive Director for the Burlington/West Burlington Area Chamber of Commerce and the Galesburg Area Chamber of Commerce. While in Galesburg, Steven was on the Board of Directors for the Illinois Association of Chamber of Commerce Executives. Originally from California, Steven holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from UCLA and a Juris Doctor from the American College of Law. Additionally, Steven hosted a public affairs radio and television program in California, and most recently hosted a podcast aired on several platforms and was a way to inform, educate, and enlighten the listen to the guest and provide attention and appreciation for their involvement in the community. Steven's goal is to work in a collaborative way with the business community, public officials, peers, and other key stakeholders to promote the Macomb Area and Western Illinois as a destination for success.

The Ambassador Committee of the Macomb Area Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon cutting on November 6 to celebrate the opening of All About Pieces (124 S. Lafayette St.) in Downtown Macomb Owner, Kathryn Shrode is realizing her dream of providing a space where everyone can gather to shop quilting and upholstery supplies, work on their craft at one of the many available tables, and even do a few jigsaw puzzles. This post is a bittersweet one as we bid farewell to our fearless leader on her last day. What a lucky office and region we are to have Lauren Merritt in our company. We admire her tireless dedication to the Macomb Area Chamber and the business community. We will certainly miss her in our office in all the ways. We wish her all the best as she embraces the next step of her journey.

The Ambassador Committee of the Macomb Area Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon cutting on October 10 to celebrate the recent completion of the Adams Street Project. New pavement, sidewalks, and retaining wall features were installed thanks to cooperation with the City of Macomb, IL, the IMEG, Western Illinois University, Illinois Department of Transportation, and the surrounding citizens of Macomb. The Macomb Area Chamber of Commerce hosted the 2024 Legislative Luncheon, presented by Comcast NBCUniversal, on October 8 at the Park Place of Macomb located at 127 E. Carroll St. Check-in/Social began at 11 am, with a fajita buffet lunch served at 11:30 am catered by Park Place. The noon featured speakers included State Senators Mike Halpin and Neil Anderson and Representatives Norine Hammond and Dan Swanson. Speakers discussed topics directly tied to the local, regional, and state economy and climate and hosted a Q& A session open to the 120 attendees. ? The Macomb Area Chamber wishes to extend a special thank you to event sponsors—Comcast NBCUniversal, Floral arrangements sponsored by Hy-Vee—Grand Prairie of Macomb, United Community Bank, and Western Illinois University.
