This topic is becoming less relevant as time goes on, but we still have customers using 2011 MacBook Pros. In the early stages of the classic video card failure it can be very hard to tell that it's the video card causing the issues as It looks more like a hard drive failure. We recently helped a customer who unfortunately fell victim to a phishing scam. They received a fake email that appeared to be from PayPal and clicked on a malicious link, allowing hackers to access their computer and steal their banking information. As a result, the hackers were able to drain their bank account. If you have older friends or family members, please have a conversation with them about the importance of being cautious with emails, phone calls, or messages claiming to be from their bank, PayPal, eBay, or other companies. These hackers are very sophisticated and may even try to get the victim to go to their bank in person. Additionally, be wary of any requests involving gift cards - this is almost always a sign of a scam. Encourage your loved ones to be vigilant and to contact you or their financial institution directly if they have any concerns about the legitimacy of a communication.

Over the weekend, Microsoft experienced a service outage that impacted many users. This morning, my voicemail had a number of messages from people who couldn't access their email accounts. Even my girlfriend was having trouble logging into her Hotmail account yesterday! When you're having issues with your email, it's important not to automatically assume the problem is on your end. The culprit could be your internet service provider or a broader outage from your email provider. Resist the urge to start tinkering with your settings, as that's often not the best solution if there haven't been any recent changes to your computer, like system updates or new software installations. https://lnkd.in/gus3w-84

Is replacing your old 2010 iMac with a new M4 24 inch iMac the right thing to do? It might be, but I feel that the current M4 iMac is a little overpriced. I’ve been setting up many of my customers who need to retire old iMacs with new M4 Mac minis! Re-use your old keyboard and mouse from the old iMac and then any HDMI monitor will work, or buy an adapter or cable for a non-HDMI monitor so that it will work with the new M4 Mac mini! https://lnkd.in/g2J-f2tA

This is a worthwhile read. I share it will all of my new customers in regards to treating iCloud Drive as a backup (which it is not!). It's often confused with iCloud Backup, which fully backs up your iPhone or iPad. The storage you pay for starts at only $1 a month is shared across both services, hence the confusion about what is a real back up and what is really just "Dropbox from Apple". https://lnkd.in/ebtjuMRH
