We were honored to receive the Outstanding Highway Engineering Award for Category A at the 2024 ASHE Past Presidents Awards Banquet over the weekend! ? This historic stone arch bridge, built in 1883, faced significant challenges over the years. After a truck collision in September 2022 necessitated its closure, our team worked tirelessly to design and execute its replacement. Our efforts reflect our unwavering commitment to excellence in infrastructure and our dedication to serving communities. ? Our structural inspection team from Mackin Engineers recently conducted a routine bridge inspection for the Route 28 NB Ramp A to Highland Park Bridge. This follows up on the essential work performed last year by PennDOT. Flashback to Last Year: In 2023, PennDOT District 11 announced a long-term closure of the ramp from the northbound Highland Park Bridge to southbound Route 28 in Sharpsburg Borough, Allegheny County. This closure, which began on March 20, 2023, allowed crews to undertake significant reconstruction work, bridge rehabilitation, and drainage improvements on the ramp, which lasted through mid-May. Current Update: We’re excited to share that this year’s inspection confirms the stability and safety of the improvements made last year.
