Mach IV had the FFA Bay Port chapter stop by today and give us their presentation on the pros and cons of the rising cost of farming. They will give this presentation this summer at the State competition! They did a great job! We wish them the best of luck!

Most people see us for a few hours while we are doing the field work for their Land Survey and wonder.....is that it???? On a typical residential Land Survey, the field work makes up only about 1/3 of the work involved in having your Land Surveyed. Once you accept the proposal, we get started with researching your property. We: - Get copies of your deed -Look for previous survey work in the area -Look at how your neighbors property relate to your property -Do preliminary computations to help guide us in the field. When we are at your property doing the field work we: -Look for existing property corners -Set or replace any damaged or missing property corners -Locate any encroachments -Locate improvements (house, garage, sheds, pavement, etc) -Complete any special instructions from the client Once we are done with the field work we: -Review the work completed in the field -Do our final computations -Prepare the survey for drafting -Draft the map -Review the map and make corrections -Send the map to our client and the County we are working in to be placed on file To learn more about having your property surveyed please email us at [email protected]

GPS has been a real game changer for Land Surveying! What use to take us a half a day to measure a property corner way out in the swamp now may only take 30 minutes (as long as the swamp is not too wet!). Here is a great picture of Justin from our office measuring a "40" corner in the middle if a swamp earlier this summer (he only fell in up to his knees a few times!??)

It depends on what side of the fence you are on…… Some people will move the fence…. Some people don’t care and will leave it for someone else to deal with… Some people will work out a handshake deal with the neighbor… (This is a temporary solution. When you or the neighbor move the problem comes right back) Others will pretend it doesn’t exist… And some will suit up and go to war with the neighbor… (This can get expensive and generally ruins the relationship with the neighbor and ruins your enjoyment of your property) The best option is to move the fence to the property line. The next best option is to reach a solution with your neighbor, put in writing, and get it recorded at the Register of Deeds Office. (This protects you, your neighbor, and the future owners of either property) At some point, someone will have to deal with this, and it is better to do so before it becomes a heated issue.
