"We are excited and honored to support the work of Freedom West. Housing inequality is one of the key drivers of wealth inequality in the US, and Freedom West 2.0 offers an innovative model for achieving not only housing parity but also economic parity for low-income populations in a high-cost urban setting. My hope is that this project will spur larger systemic changes in place-based economic development throughout the country." - Institute for the Future Executive Director Marina Gorbis Learn more about Freedom West 2.0 at https://freedomwest.com/ MacFarlane Partners Landon Taylor #AffordableHousing #CommunityImpact #FreedomWest #RealEstateRevitalization #SanFrancisco #Partnerships #NonprofitLeadership #HousingForAll #UrbanDevelopment?

How to supply the affordable housing that American cities so critically need in 2025? AFIRE assembled a group of leading commercial real estate thinkers to provide their opinions. Echoing the sentiment of many of our executives, Landon Taylor, CEO of MacFarlane Partners, believes the solution is in public-private partnerships. “We need policy that really enables the development of more housing,” says Amy Price, president, BGO. That policy needs to come from numerous levels of government, according to our experts, calling for incentives from multiple levels of government. “It's not inappropriate to think that the housing sector needs continued incentives that are federally driven,” says Byron Carlock, director of legal and tax for AFIRE. “Because it takes capital to do this, and the capital markets have been shut down now for nearly three years.” “Housing is very much a story about supply,” says Ann Cole, managing director of J.P. Morgan. “And what you really need in those markets is incentives to develop, incentives to create that supply.” Also featuring context from: Greg Lindsay, Senior Fellow, MIT Future Urban Collectives Lab Will McIntosh, Global Head of Research, Affinius Capital stephen benjamin, Managing Partner & CEO, The Dermot Company, LP Company Sam Chandan, Founding Director & Professor, Chen Institute for Global Real Estate Finance, NYU Stern School of Business Ted Willcocks, President & CEO, Triovest Adam Falcheck, VP, Asset & Portfolio Management, DLJ REAL ESTATE CAPITAL PARTNERS Gunnar Branson, CEO, AFIRE Register today for AFIRE’s Winter Conference here: https://lnkd.in/gqChSYfg AFIRE POV interviews sum up how the industry’s experts are feeling about the most important topics in commercial real estate investing. Was honored to speak at the Congressional Black Caucus in Washington DC on the topic of tech inclusive place making with real estate developments! We specifically touched on STEM Innovation centers, created to provide communities with access to high paying jobs and entrepreneurial opportunities in Next Frontier industries such as #AI and #Blockchain. I previewed the one we're building at Freedom West 2.0 in San Francisco. Congratulations to Veronica Hash and Darin Carter from Coinbase for assembling a great panel and audience. #EconomicParity
