MacDonald-Miller crews kicked off Phase 1 of the Pittock Block Project in the heart of downtown Portland, Oregon. This historic building is notable for its age and adaptive potential, with an entire floor converted into a data center. We had the honor of hosting the Mechanical Contractors Association of America (MCAA) Great Futures Career Development Initiative at our prefabrication shop. Auburn Medical Center gets an upgrade! During the preconstruction phase, the MacDonald-Miller team worked with MultiCare Health System & Abbott Construction on a plan to minimize the impact on patient care by installing one new larger air handling system in a new unoccupied location to serve as the air handling infrastructure for both towers. Critical environments require critical planning! For the UW Medical Center Chiller Replacements project, we invested a year of pre-planning to ensure a smooth transition from the old chillers to the new ones. Our top priority was maintaining patient comfort and safety while completing the installation in just 4 weeks! Even with a challenging schedule, our teams stepped up with creative solutions and our crews worked long hours to ensure that both units were operational for the hospital before the first early summer heat wave.
