  • Anupama Mitra, the owner of Ayojon and founder of the Women’s Development Organization, is a well-known figure in Jashore’s handicraft sector. She dreams of reviving the industry and promoting the rich heritage of the “Jashore stitch” through high-quality Nakshi Kantha products. However, she was well aware of the challenges, including backdated designs and a lack of skilled workers, which were holding the sector back. When the Local Government Division began working with the handicraft sector in Jashore, Anupama saw new opportunities. Through their support, she received training in design, color selection, and stitching techniques, which helped her improve both her skills and the quality of her products. Now, her handcrafted items stand out for their uniqueness and craftsmanship, even in a market with counterfeit alternatives. Although the COVID-19 pandemic impacted her business, Anupama believes that the collective efforts of women entrepreneurs like her will bring Jashore’s handicraft industry back to life and showcase its traditional artistry to a wider audience #LED #LGD #Jashore #Stitch #Handicraft #MAB

  • Ismail Khan Shamim, a mango farmer from Shibganj, once struggled with outdated farming methods that gave low yields and high costs. Harvesting was tough, and much of the fruit went to waste, leaving him and other farmers barely earning enough to survive. Then, The Municipality introduced the Ultra High-Density ( #UHD ) farming technique, teaching Shamim how to plant more trees on less land. With shorter trees and better training, his work became easier, his harvests bigger, and his income higher. Thanks to the Local Government Division(LGD) and The Shibganj Municipality, #Shibganj is becoming a hub for successful #mango farming! #MAB #Bangladesh #LGD #LED
