From day one, we have set out to make MA the best place for individuals to pursue rewarding careers and for companies to start, scale and succeed. The Mass Leads Act will help us achieve that vision. We’re grateful to Governor Healey and #TeamMA for positioning our state to lead for future generations. We're incredibly grateful to Speaker Ron Mariano, Senate President Karen Spilka, the conference committee, and the entire Legislature for their commitment and support of the Mass Leads Act.

Last week, we lost an important member of our economic development family with the passing of former Executive Office of Housing and Economic Development Secretary Greg Bialecki. Greg was a super talented individual with a passion for housing, permitting, and economic development and had an incredible impact while serving our state as secretary from 2009 to 2015. He was also a generous and thoughtful friend to so many in our office. We extend our condolences to his family and will continue to honor his legacy in our work on behalf of the communities and people of Massachusetts.

Last week, we joined Massachusetts Technology Collaborative’s Innovation Institute Pat Larkin and Massachusetts Clean Energy Center’s CEO Emily Reichert on a panel at Office of the Massachusetts State Treasurer and Receiver General’s 12th Annual Massachusetts Investor Conference. Sec. Hao discussed #TeamMA’s work to strengthen our economy and maintain our lead as the best place for businesses to invest and build a future.

Secretary Tutwiler, Massachusetts Executive Office of Economic Development (EOED) Rural Affairs Director Anne Gobi and local legislators toured different pre-k classrooms at East Brookfield Elementary. Sec Tutwiler loved seeing the partnerships for the younger learners and high school students studying to be educators in action.

MassDevelopment has provided a $4 million loan from its?Emerging Technology Fund (ETF)?to OnPoint Surgical, Inc., a medical technology company offering highly accurate and precise augmented reality (AR) display systems for orthopedic and?neurosurgical spinal procedures. Last week, we joined State Rep. David LeBoeuf to tour small businesses on Main Street in Worcester and sat down with the Latin American Business Organization to discuss how our state can partner with communities to strengthen small enterprises and ensure equitable growth.?It was great meeting the business owners and employees of Plaza Supermarket, Belen’s Baking, Unique Nails, Carlito’s Barber Shop, Kumasi Market, The Village, and Maria’s Kitchen. And visiting the future sites of the Economic Empowerment Center and CDC Business Condos.?

Happy Veteran’s Day! We just announced our National Guard Hiring Tax Credit Initiative, which will expand economic opportunity for our military community and support businesses that hire service members.
