Hurricane Milton has left a trail of devastation as the third major storm to hit Florida this year. With devastating winds, flooding, and widespread damage, millions are without power, and many are left picking up the pieces. “This is a heartbreaking situation," says Tim Mettey, CEO of Matthew 25: Ministries. "This storm has added to the damage in areas already trying to recover from Hurricane Helene, and some still healing from Hurricane Michael in 2018. Our hearts are heavy as Florida braces for Hurricane Milton, a major storm set to strike communities that are still reeling from the devastation caused by Hurricane Helene just 10 days ago. The unimaginable grief and destruction these families have already endured are beyond words, and now they face yet another battle. Our thoughts and prayers are with everyone in the path of this storm. We are monitoring the storm and are prepared to respond based on the needs of the disaster region once the storm passes through. Our response is just beginning as communities across the United States recover from the devastation of Hurricane Helene. Our team spent the day yesterday airlifting supplies to some of the hardest hit areas in North Carolina. Many people shared with us about the loss of loved ones, neighbors, and homes, "We were praying for a helicopter, and here you came. It means the world to us. When you are the one that needs help, it is just so amazing to see a helicopter land and bring supplies that your community needs. So thank you." Our Disaster Response Team is still in Florida providing laundry and shower services. We are also shipping supplies to partners in areas throughout the Carolinas, Florida, Georgia, and Tennessee.
