This November, we celebrate Native American Heritage Month. While honoring the Tribal nations and Indigenous communities of the Pacific Northwest should happen year-round, this month is an additional opportunity to acknowledge some of the incredible #nonprofits working to preserve Native history and advocate for equitable opportunities in education and leadership. Thank you to Northwest Native Chamber, International Traditional Games Society, Cook Inlet Tribal Council, Inc., Northwest Museum of Arts & Culture, Seldovia Village Tribe, and so many others doing this work! ??https://bit.ly/4fpsAFr

In discussing civic duties and political engagement, we must not overlook celebration and hope. Sam Kang of the Civics Learning Project highlights insights from Todd Bloomquist of the The Ford Family Foundation, emphasizing our need to consciously incorporate joy into our conversations and actions. Celebratory moments Sam references include a diversification of the identities and communities represented in our elected officials in recent years.
