We’re thrilled to see the Obama Foundation’s support of dynamic programming for girls in Chicago! A special shoutout to Ladies of Virtue (LOVChicago) and MEAN Girls Empowerment | Mentoring Program – who are a part of United Way’s United Neighborhoods Equity Fund, supporting small, BIPOC-led nonprofits in historically disinvested communities. Investment in mentorship, education, and wellness programs for youth is key to building thriving neighborhoods. I am excited to announce MEAN Girls Empowerment | Mentoring Program has been recognized for our Girls Health Matters Initiative by the Girls Opportunity Alliance, a program of the Obama Foundation, and will be awarded $50K in funding to purchase a van to serve as a pop-up mobile health resource that travels to community sites. ? Together, we will empower girls through this initiative to address health disparities in minority communities and remove a common barrier which prevents girls from participating in community programs. MGE expects to reach 700 girls between the ages of 10 and 18 by December 2024.? ? Girls are powerful agents for change in our Chicago communities and beyond, and we are proud to collaborate with the Girls Opportunity Alliance to support girls in our beloved city. ? We are proud to announce that MEAN Girls Empowerment | Mentoring Program is 1 of the 51 organizations to receive the Cook County Starting Block Grant award for $100,000 provided by the Cook County Government Justice Advisory Council. Funds from this grant will be used to expand our services to the Chicago Westside!!!! Westside of Chicago here we come! Please be on a lookout for the launch date. This road to 10 years is a journey you don’t want to miss!!! We are currently looking for volunteers and facilitators to help with this expansion.
