It is an interactive visualization of impacts felt across the country as the result of federal firings, funding freezes and cuts, and program cancellations. We are adding more stories (which translates to dots on the map) all the time. If you or anyone you know may be interested in contributing by sending local newspaper articles about these impacts, you can click here: https://lnkd.in/gF6vwinb If you are a federal worker--including international--who would like to share your story, click here: https://lnkd.in/g2VWpXK9 If you are in business in any way with the federal government and have been impacted by cuts, you can share your story here: https://lnkd.in/gWhWysHM If you are a grant or loan recipient whose funding has been impacted by federal cuts in any way, you can share your story here: https://lnkd.in/gXWQRXFZ #federalworkers #federalcuts #fundingfreeze #maps

Our amazing partners, Project OneTen, shared this powerful reflection on Black Fugitivity, and we had to share it with you all. Take a moment to read, reflect, and soak in these beautiful words. ?? "Black people have always created spaces where we could be free—physically, spiritually, and creatively—despite systems designed to contain us. These?Black fugitive spaces?have been sites of resistance, healing, and innovation, allowing us to imagine new possibilities beyond oppression. From?hush harbors?where enslaved people worshiped beyond the watchful eyes of their oppressors, to?maroon communities?that built autonomous Black societies; from the intellectual salons of the?Harlem Renaissance, to the underground clubs fueling the?Black Arts Movement, these spaces have nurtured our survival and shaped culture. Even today, Black fugitive spaces remain vital—whether in?HBCUs, barbershops and beauty salons, Black Twitter, or community centers that incubate joy, resistance, and radical imagination. They remind us that freedom isn’t just about escaping oppression—it’s about creating something new. This?Black History Month, we honor these spaces as more than sites of refuge, but as incubators of Black genius, joy, and transformation. What are the Black fugitive spaces that have shaped you?" ??

Recently, a funder shared a funding update that truly reflects care and understanding: “Given the uncertainties surrounding federal funding, We have decided to pause certain reporting requirements this year. Recognizing that grantees’ priorities may have shifted. Instead of additional paperwork, we’ll stay connected through conversations and site visits.” This is what it looks like when funders are supporting the community. Acknowledging shifting realities, easing administrative burdens, and prioritizing relationships over paperwork. More of this, please! ?? #CenteringCommunity #FundingWithCare #Philanthropy #Nonprofits #Partnerships

Grant writers, Are you spinning your wheels, trying to submit a million grants before midnight because of what’s happening to federal grants? Attending that next $webinar$ on how best to secure grants today? Exhausted by the expectations placed on us right now because of the nonprofit industrial complex? Annoyed by Crappy Funding Practices ? ?? At this time where it’s so easy to fall into despair, burnout, or even the shame of not being “productive enough”, it’s important to reach out to community. More Than Grant Writers is a space for anyone who writes grants to build community, solidarity and resilience at this time. While the process of grant writing is often siloed in a nonprofit, you will find that you are not alone with your frustrations, concerns, and yes, eye rolls (??!) in this growing community. Join us!

Fired up and ready to fight back? Or are you already exhausted? No matter what headspace you occupy, connection and community are some useful ways of building resilience. On?Tuesday, February 25, from 10 am–11:30 am CT,?we’ll meet to process the events that have unfolded as a result of the second Trump administration and learn from each other how we are navigating this unprecedented assault on the nonprofit sector. Last week, we gathered for our Strategic Power Hour, and one thing was clear... this space was deeply needed. ?? Thank you to everyone who showed up, shared insights, and strategized with us. A special shoutout to our incredible community leaders, Roxana Bendezú, Irene Romulo, and Mario Lugay, for guiding the conversation! Here are some key takeaways we’re holding close: ?? Building Sustainable & Safe Movements – We’re in this for the long run. Safety, intentional planning, and strong policies protect us and our communities. ?? Strengthening Our Movements – We need multipronged strategies:?stopping the bad, changing the rules, and building the new. All while ensuring we have the resources to sustain the work. ?? Sustaining Ourselves & Each Other – Joy, rest, and community care are essential. <3 Let’s resist burnout and hold space for laughter, music, and shared meals. This work is heavy, but we don’t have to carry it alone. ?? Let’s keep resourcing each other, co-creating solutions, and building toward collective liberation. What’s a theme or topic you’d love to explore in a future session? Drop it in the comments, we’re listening. ?? #CommunityPower #StrategicPowerHour #MovementBuilding #CollectiveCare

To my dear friends and colleagues across the US nonprofit sector - the hits just keep on coming, don't they? The constant barrage of orders, announcements, firings, freezes and more are meant to exhaust you, to burn you out and to cloud your judgement about the best path forward. By now you may have already sprung into reactive mode - reaching out to your core funders, scheduling an emergency board meeting, scaling back your programs and activities and/or planning for furloughs and layoffs. You may have even removed your values or inclusive language from your public platforms to appear "compliant" with our new administration. We have long known that philanthropy can't and shouldn't sustain the work of our sector. And in this chapter, we are being told clearly that our government (who is meant to work for all of us) won't either. That leaves us with each other. Together, we are powerful. Together, movements are built and maintained. Together, we keep ourselves and our communities safe. It may be difficult to imagine collaborating with a cause, organization or leader with whom you may disagree; who feels like your competition for funding or with whom you don't have a mutual and trusting relationships. This is not a call to be besties but it is time for RADICAL collaboration. If you need support planning, convening, healing, and strategizing, give me shout. We have work to do.
