We are giving a byproduct material a renewed, high-value purpose - instead of just letting it sit on the ground. As EV battery makers face geopolitical tensions, green energy imperatives and supply chain issues, recycling and upcycling have never been more important. Lyten has chosen sulfur as one of the core element for its batteries, a byproduct produced from the oil & gas industry, giving us the ability to locally source our materials from anywhere in the world. Visit https://lnkd.in/g8KWX4n4 to learn more about our battery architecture, how we use sulfur, and why it is a more sustainable battery chemistry. #Lyten #LithiumSulfur #EVBatteries #Upcycling #Sustainability

Recharge outlines an extremely important point for the world's future energy sustainability and security: onshoring production. The International Energy Agency's report states that currently, China dominates nearly 85% of global battery cell production capacity. Furthermore, the US, EU and Korea hold 10% or less of the supply chain for battery metals and cells today. Onshoring battery manufacturing must be paired with more resilient supply chains. That will only happen with new, non-NMC battery chemistries. Lyten is building Lithium-Sulfur with locally abundant, available materials that can be sourced on any continent. Yesterday, Lyten had the honor of hosting a visit from a bipartisan Congressional Delegation of over 30 members and staff of the House Armed Services Committee (#HASC). Our CEO, Dan Cook, Chief Battery Technology Officer, Celina Mikolajczak, President of Lyten Federal LtGen(Ret) Eric Fick, and Chief Sustainability Officer, Keith Norman guided the delegation through our Lithium-Sulfur and 3D Graphene manufacturing facilities, showcasing our high-performance battery technology. The delegation engaged in a productive dialogue on how the U.S. can maintain energy independence without relying on foreign-dominated supply chains. This is precisely where Lyten's Lithium-Sulfur battery technology stands out, using sulfur, lithium, and 3D graphene as the main ingredients in our batteries. U.S. Representative Mike Rogers (R-AL), Chairman of the House Armed Services Committee,?and other members expressed strong interest in how Lyten's innovative approach can leverage standard battery-making equipment with only minor modifications, enabling the production of batteries domestically—without relying on Nickel, Manganese, Cobalt (NMC), graphite, or materials sourced globally, primarily from China. Chairman Rogers delivered these remarks earlier in the day about why they came to #SiliconValley: (full press release: https://lnkd.in/g_E7DhaV) “We chose to come to Silicon Valley to hear directly from America’s leading innovators about solutions to a problem that has vexed the Department of Defense for decades.?Make no mistake - these [other countries] capabilities are being developed specifically to defeat our military. We cannot let that happen. We can’t let China or any adversary outpace us on innovation. Fortunately, the United States has something our adversaries do not – a robust innovation ecosystem.?There is no shortage of innovative Americans, especially here in Silicon Valley, with the ideas and know-how to keep us ahead of our adversaries.?We must take better advantage of this.” Lyten is honored to have been chosen as a stop on the House Armed Services Committee’s recent visit to California and to demonstrate how we are leading the way in advancing U.S. energy independence with innovative technologies. We extend our gratitude to the HASC members for including Lyten in their visit: Chairman Mike Rogers (R-AL) Ranking Member Adam Smith (D-WA) Rep. Joe Wilson (R-SC) Rep. Trent Kelly (R-MS) Rep. Michael Waltz (R-FL) Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) Rep. Carlos Gimenez (R-FL) Rep. Brad Finstad (R-MN) Rep. Jennifer Kiggans (R-VA) Rep. James Moylan (R-Guam) Rep. Rich McCormick (R-GA) Rep. ONSHORING BATTERY PRODUCTION: Bringing #ElectricVehicle battery manufacturing operations back to the U.S., E.U. and other countries worldwide sounds great, but cannot be successful without a different #SupplyChain. Energy storage is an #economic security and national #security issue. It ensures self-sovereign access to power in an electrified society, but that is only true if we are NOT dependent on a single country to supply the raw materials to make batteries. Lithium-Sulfur batteries' resource accessibility not only plays a huge role in improving the environmental landscape, but the geopolitical one as well. Read how Lyten is using 3D Graphene supermaterials to enable batteries with abundant, local supply chains. https://lyten.com #Lyten #EVBattery #Production #Onshore #Sustainability
