Latitude Media reports?**As Northvolt falters, this lithium-sulfur startup is ready to pick up the pieces** https://lnkd.in/e7ce8UDU “This really meets two needs for us,” Keith Norman, Chief Sustainability Officer at Lyten describes the acquisition of Cuberg’s assets. “Need one is proving on a larger scale that we can acquire assets, we can convert them to run lithium-sulfur, and we can scale that as a really cost-effective way to scale buildout of the battery. The second, more direct need is getting batteries into the hands of waiting customers more quickly, therefore driving revenue earlier." #BatteryTechnology #SupplyChain #EnergyStorage #LithiumSulfur #EVBatteries #CleanEnergy #Sustainability #Innovation #TechNews #StartupSuccess #GreenEnergy

The recent news about Northvolt is creating a lot of reflection on what it will take for the US and EU to grow a successful battery industry. Celina Mikolajczak, Chief Battery Technology Officer at Lyten, shared her perspective in a recent The New York Times interview: “Some people in the battery industry say it was a mistake to try to compete with Chinese manufacturers, given that they had a big head start. The Chinese government decided years ago to focus on electric vehicles and subsidized battery makers. Investors and governments should have put their money into new battery technologies that would give them an advantage…If you are going to play in that industry, you have to bring something that differentiates you.” ? We are looking forward to see Northvolt be successful. The success of US and EU battery companies is important to the whole industry. At Lyten,we are doing our part by bringing a differentiated battery, lithium-sulfur, to the market. #LocalSupplyChain #SupplyChainResilience #BatteryTechnology #Innovation #Sustainability #LithiumSulfur #EnergyStorage #CleanEnergy #FutureOfEnergy #GreenTech #Northvolt #Europe Read the full NYT article (subscription required):?https://lnkd.in/deA9MFg8

Last week, our very own Matthew M., Sr. Program Manager at Lyten, took the stage at the #BGSUSA Battery Gigafactory Conference in Nashville to deliver an insightful presentation on “Factory Design Considerations for Different Battery Chemistries.” Matt highlighted how our recently announced Lyten gigafactory https://lnkd.in/gR2F9xzb in North Reno will be producing lithium-sulfur batteries—a groundbreaking alternative to traditional lithium-ion chemistries. Lyten’s #LithiumSulfur cells eliminate the need for Nickel, Manganese, and Cobalt, enabling: - An independent supply chain—key materials are sourced locally - A dramatically reduced carbon footprint—over 65% lower than traditional lithium-ion batteries. We’re proud of Matt’s contribution to the conference and our collective mission to build a cleaner, greener future! #EVBatteries #Sustainability #Innovation #BatteryTech #Gigafactory #Lyten #BGSUSA

Related article from TechCrunch about today's announcement: "Lyten’s purchase of Northvolt’s Cuberg assets give it the equipment and space to produce up to 200 megawatt-hours of lithium-sulfur batteries in the Bay Area. That should give the company some revenue while it prepares its larger factory in Nevada." https://lnkd.in/gB6gxnPm #Lyten #Northvolt #Cuberg #LithiumSulfur #LithiumIon #BatteryManufacturing #EVBatteries

Bill Pennington of Verdantix moderated a powerful panel challenging the perception that EHS is merely a cost centre. Panelists Riad Efendi, (TechnipFMC), Stephen Ndiritu (Kennesaw State University), and Kim Racine, (Lyten) discussed how EHS investments create value by enhancing productivity, supporting R&D, and help align businesses with investor-grade ESG standards. No doubt about it - strong EHS performance is a strategic advantage for organizations today! #EHSSummit #EHSLeadership #CorporateGrowth #Sustainability #WorkplaceSafety

Recently, there is some good news for America’s lithium supply: “The US is on the cusp of a lithium boom after years of laying the groundwork for an electric-vehicle supply chain that doesn't rely on China.” https://lnkd.in/gsQCRfB8 The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) loaned $2.6 billion to Lithium Americas Corp., the company developing Thacker Pass, in northern Nevada, and another lithium mine in the state. And a project in California's Salton Sea started construction earlier this year. These sites, expected to come online between 2026 and 2028, would massively increase the US's lithium supply. https://lnkd.in/gddMWyRt "This essential loan helps us reduce dependence on foreign suppliers and secure America's energy future," said Lithium Americas CEO Jonathan Evans. https://lnkd.in/esi-5Exg “Federal researchers estimating last year that the superheated brine deep beneath the Salton Sea contains enough lithium to fuel?382 million electric-vehicle batteries.” #EnergyIndependence #AmericanManufacturing #DomesticSourcing #CleanEnergy #LithiumSupplyChain #ElectricVehicles #BatteryTechnology #DOE #ThackerPass #SaltonSea #SustainableEnergy #FutureOfMobility #USSupplyChain
