Making therapy better.

关于我们

Lyssn is a technology company focused on improving the quality of mental health and addiction therapy. Until now, feedback on the quality of psychotherapy relied on burdening patients with questionnaires, or slow and labor-intensive human evaluations of session recordings. Lyssn utilizes state-of-the-art machine learning technology, trained on thousands of human-evaluated sessions, to process the content of your session in real-time. Lyssn’s machine learning / AI pipeline takes the spoken language of therapy and evaluates it relative to specific fidelity benchmarks. Our prediction models automatically estimate the therapist’s empathy, collaboration, reflections, and questions, to provide detailed performance-based feedback on Motivational Interviewing (MI) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT, in development). Lyssn performance-based feedback is designed for the therapist's own reflection and growth, training in specific evidence-based practices and skills, and to deepen and facilitate the process of supervision. We are also developing technology to provide insight on the quality and content of psychotherapy directly to patients.

"Artificial intelligence is rippling through the mental health professions, offering waves of new tools designed to assist or, in some cases, replace the work of human clinicians." - The New York Times As the conversation around AI in mental health grows, so do the challenges and opportunities it brings. A recent article in The New York Times highlights concerns from the American Psychological Association (APA), which warns that chatbots posing as therapists could potentially lead to harmful behavior. These concerns reflect the need for proper safeguards to ensure technology is used appropriately. At Lyssn, we believe AI should assist and empower clinicians. Our goal is to equip mental health professionals with AI solutions that enhance their work and training with evidence-based reasoning, while preserving the essential human expertise, empathy, and connection at the core of mental health care. Let's continue to embrace technology that helps, without losing sight of the irreplaceable value of human care. ???? For Black History Month, we wanted to take a moment to highlight Black mental health advocates, researchers, and clinicians who have made incredible contributions to the mental health field. They broke barriers, challenged stigma, and created opportunities for more inclusive care. The fruit of their work continues to shape how we understand and support mental well-being. A few of these trailblazers include: ? Bebe Moore Campbell – A powerful advocate for mental health in the Black community, she co-founded NAMI Urban Los Angeles and pushed for national awareness of racial disparities in mental health care. Her advocacy led to July being recognized as Bebe Moore Campbell National Minority Mental Health Awareness Month. ? Dr. Solomon Carter Fuller – One of the first Black psychiatrists in the U.S., he was a pioneer in Alzheimer’s research and contributed greatly to our understanding of neurodegenerative diseases. ? Dr. Mamie Phipps Clark – A psychologist whose research on racial identity and self-esteem in Black children helped influence the Supreme Court’s Brown v. Board of Education decision. ? Linda James Myers, Ph.D. – Developed the theory of Optimal Psychology, a framework centering African and African American perspectives in mental health, challenging Eurocentric models. These are just a few of the many Black professionals who have shaped mental health care and advocacy. Their work reminds us that equity in mental health is a continuous fight—one that requires listening, learning, and taking action.
