Together with our partners, we've just made a final investment decision to proceed with a second Cyclyx Circularity Center in Fort Worth, Texas! This milestone represents a step forward in expanding the U.S. plastic recycling infrastructure and supports a circular economy for plastics. This new facility is expected to produce approximately 300 million pounds of plastic waste feedstock each year for mechanical and advanced recycling. Last month, our North America Operational Procurement team—joined by colleagues from across the U.S. and Poznan, Poland—came together in Houston for a two-day annual conference focused on partnerships, solutions and value creation. Connecting in person and virtually, the team shared insights, best practices, and ideas to drive operational procurement excellence. The event included inspiring keynote speakers like Jennifer Jewson, Armando Lara, PE, CMRP, MBA and Matthew Martin, who covered topics from AI and value creation to personal career branding. Exciting news! LyondellBasell (LYB) signed a power purchase agreement in the Netherlands which moves the company beyond its renewable electricity procurement target. This agreement with Shell Energy secures in total 54 MW of wind and solar capacity generating an annual renewable electricity volume of approximately 139 GWh which is the equivalent of powering 38,500 European homes annually. Earlier this year LYB secured capacity to reach its goal of procuring a minimum of 50% of its electricity from renewable sources by 2030, based on 2020 procured levels. “This agreement will accelerate the development and deployment of clean energy in The Netherlands and support our company’s efforts to enable value creation from low carbon solutions in the marketplace that we serve,” says Chris Cain, LyondellBasell senior vice president Net Zero Transition Strategy.
