???Exciting news: Brem Foundation to Defeat Breast Cancer Foundation is celebrating over 3,000 rides to screenings and diagnostic exams through our Wheels for Women program in partnership with Lyft! Brem's Wheels for Women ride-sharing program is breaking down access barriers for women in need. Through deep partnerships with our 15 community medical provider partners in the DC Metro Area and Baltimore, we have provided over 3,000 rides for patients facing transportation challenges to access potentially life-saving early detection services. Grateful for this collaboration with Lyft and look forward to continued opportunities to creatively address health disparities and champion early detection of breast cancer. Lyft can’t control the traffic or the weather. But we can make sure that every ride and every minute a driver spends on the road feels worth it. Today, we are announcing new earnings features that make it more rewarding than ever to get behind the wheel. We want drivers to love our platform, but they get frustrated when the effort to complete a ride doesn’t match their earnings. So starting today, they’ll see increased earnings for unexpected delays or out-of-the-way drop offs. And they’ll also see more transparent earnings estimates to make it easier for them to decide which rides are worthwhile. We’re also adding new tools to help them maximize their time, and benefits to enable them to succeed —?on and off the road. Our top priority is ensuring that drivers have a great experience every time they drive with Lyft. Today we’re excited to unveil Time To Vote, a gamified civic engagement campaign launched in partnership with HeadCount Org, Lyft, TIME and 40+ creators! 41 million Gen Z'ers are eligible to vote in this election, with 8 million newly eligible. This campaign aims to drive 50k voters to check their voter registration status, get prepared to vote, and commit to recruit 2 others to make a voting plan, driving 150k people to action this election We aspire to creatively engage this generation by leveraging rewards, gamification, and immersive tech, supporting the civic process to better reach its potential. A few weeks back I drove with Lyft in Napa Valley in the afternoon. Figured I'd give it another try on a Saturday night to experience the vibe. First one up was a Scheduled Ride. When you pre-book a ride, Drivers can see nearby scheduled rides over the next few days in their app, including the approximate route and estimated earnings. They choose whatever works best for them. Then starting an hour before the ride your driver gets a reminder notification. (They can still accept other ride requests on the way, but we make sure that they won't make the driver late for pickup.) My ride was scheduled for pickup in Calistoga at Dr. Wilkinson's Backyard Resort & Mineral Springs at 6:45. It was also designated Extra Comfort-- my favorite mode, and one my car and I qualify for. I headed out to arrive a few minutes early. Turns out it was a group of four women on their way to dinner to celebrate a 40th birthday. I asked one of them "Why'd you choose Lyft tonight?" "Well, I'm from LA where Lyft is cheaper and faster. I also prefer Lyft's values." Nice! Then her friend piped in: "In New York City, Lyft's got some work to do. Sometimes Lyft is faster, but I use the other guys more often-- they seem to have more drivers." Fair enough. We're working on it! Dropped them off at the restaurant, revealed my secret identity. Big smiles all around. Lots of fun. The next ride request came in right as I was turned around in the parking lot-- a pickup at the Charter Oak Restaurant in St. Helena. Turned out to be a couple visiting from London... on their honeymoon! They'd spent two weeks in CA and this was their final evening before flying home. Amazing trip, though they'd underestimated the heat in Death Valley. ("It was 46 degrees" or 115 Fahrenheit. Wow.) Even though Lyft doesn't operate in London, they started using Lyft in LA based on recommendations from American TV shows and friends. Their reaction to finding out who I was? "That's absolutely mad!" Sounded like Hermione speaking with Ron. For my final ride I turned on a destination filter, meaning all requests would take me towards where I wanted to end up. Speeding back up the Silverado Trail I got a request for a pick-up at Charlie's Restaurant. He turned out to be an 88 year old guy who'd had a fun night out on the town-- "I had potato pancakes"-- but whose son-in-law wasn't available to drive him home. (This annoyed him.) So a friend called him a Lyft. I drove him home and walked him to his front door. Attached is the earnings summary Lyft provides daily, for transparency. As always, I drive to learn not to earn, and your mileage may vary. We can't guarantee demand, but we do guarantee that drivers make a minimum of 70% of what riders pay, after external fees like insurance and taxes, every week.
