Thuringia (officially, the “Free State of Thuringia”) is one of Germany's 16 federal states inhabited by about 2.1 million people and covers 16,171 square kilometers. Like most other regions of central and southern Germany, Thuringia has a significant industrial sector reaching back to the mid-19th-century industrialisation. Schneider had the honour of welcoming a distinguished delegation from the German education sector at our offices at Deutsches Haus Ho Chi Minh City (official) last week. VGU is a lighthouse project that was founded in 2008 in Ho Chi Minh City as a state-run Vietnamese university established in a strategic partnership between Vietnam, the Federal Republic of Germany and the State of Hesse. It enjoys autonomous university status within the Vietnamese higher education system, modelled on the system in Hesse. To date, the VGU is the first and only university abroad that was founded and is operated jointly by a German federal state and the German federal government. ? ????
