“When the Community Environmental Council (CEC) ?? California Environmental Nonprofit approached me with the idea of creating a custom Green Gala logo piece, I immediately fell in love with the concept of incorporating both living and preserved components into the medallion. This would allow us to customize it to fit the Gala’s theme each year.” Terra Basche, Founder & Lead Designer | Lush Elements

In honor of #EarthDay earlier this week and the Santa Barbara Earth Day Festival this weekend, we have been taking moments to reflect on the importance of this movement that was started by Community Environmental Council (CEC) ?? California Environmental Nonprofit 54 years ago. We encourage you to get outside, enjoy the precious natural environment around you, and consider joining us in supporting #CEC, 1% for the Planet or another organization working for climate health. Last year, Lush Elements contributed 1% to the CEC and other organizations as a part of our 1% for the Planet contributions. We challenge you to do the same. Pictured is our Lush Wall that greets individuals who enter the #EnvironmentalHub on State Street in #SantaBarbaraCA. Collaborators in this amazing space are: MN Studio Interiors, Andrulaitis+Mixon And Sigrid Wright and her team: you are doing amazing things for our community and our planet, thank you!

- EMPLOYEE SPOTLIGHT - David Fortson I’ve been with Lush Elements since before it was Lush Elements. As some may know, I’m married to Terra who founded LE. Before it was Lush Elements, it was Terra Malia Designs, an event floral company. As a marketing/communications/strategy person I helped Terra and her team transition to Lush Elements, helping build the brand, name and focus. My passion for plants? I still remember in high school taking a “Theology of Nature” class and doing some early tree plantings in the Stanford foothills -this had a pretty influential impact on my love for nature and plants.?I ended up majoring in Environmental Studies at UCSB and worked on a number of ecological restoration projects and was a policy advocate for the protection of wetlands, endangered habitat and open spaces.? Ideal plant??To be honest - I have a soft spot for pothos.?This was the only plant that could survive our college residences let alone thrive.?They are so resilient, grow so wild in indoor spaces, can easily be clipped and replanted, require little maintenance and just love to grow and do their thing.

It’s Spring! Here are a few tips from the plant experts over here at Lush Elements. 1. Repot your plants: Do you see roots creeping out the bottom of your pot? That’s your plant’s way of saying “I need a bigger pot!” Spring is an excellent time to up pot your plants to give them room to grow. 2. Fertilize to encourage new growth: Give your plant’s soil some extra nutrients to encourage a big growth spurt. What is your favorite go-to fertilizer? Let us know in the comments! 3. Dust off and polish those leaves: A layer of dust can really impede a plant’s ability to absorb sunlight. A freshly polished plant is a happier plant! #experttips #plantmaintenance

Have an awkward, empty corner in your home or business? Put a plant there! Lush Elements can help you hand select plants that will fill a void so that one’s eyes rest on something natural instead of a harsh corner or blank wall. The modern and unique layout of the Netflix headquarters in Los Angeles left lots of small and interesting nooks to be filled with plants. Lush Elements happily partnered with Workplace Experience Designer Francis Aquino to create lushness in this office space.
