Buxton Center for Bainbridge Performing Arts was recognized with an Honor Award at the 2024 The AIA Washington Council Civic Design Awards! This renovation revitalizes the theater into an inviting place for performers, patrons, staff, and the greater arts community. The expressed wood structure in the undulating roof creates the building's unique identity. The exposed glulam beams and columns meet LMN Architects vision of a window wall that floods that lobby with natural light, integrating the building with the environment. Daydreaming about this project, set in the San Juan Islands. This retreat designed with Aetherworks seamlessly integrates with its forested slope, floating above the forest floor. By balancing a minimal concrete footprint with a series of cantilevers, the design minimizes costs, carbon, and environmental impact. Currently in design, this project is set to break ground in Spring 2025. https://hubs.la/Q02QF70t0 #ModernDesign #Sustainability #FloatingArchitecture
