At LUMO, we've coached leaders across every imaginable industry – from healthcare and professional sports to arts organizations, startups, and professional services. Oscar winners, lawyers, entrepreneurs – we've been there, supporting leaders through their most complex challenges. The truth is, we're living in complicated times. The world, economy and even institutions feel uncertain. People are scared, anxious, and searching for genuine connection. As author David Brooks notes, we're expected to operate as if everything is "normal," but we're actually navigating an atmosphere of profound disconnection and distrust. The result? People need more support than ever before. That's why coaching inquiries have surged in Q1. Leaders aren't just looking for strategy – they're seeking a lifeline, a way to navigate complexity with clarity and resilience. If you're feeling overwhelmed, uncertain, or just need a trusted partner to help you process and grow, we're here. LUMO coaches don't just listen – we help you transform challenges into opportunities.

Here, Here, Liz Tenety (and Sara Blakely) The world wasn’t built with women in mind—and we’re here to help change that. At LUMO, we believe that supporting working parents and caregivers isn’t just “nice to have” - it’s a business necessity. Because let’s be real: moms are out here running households, businesses, companies and the world as we know it - the least we can do is make sure they have the support they deserve. That’s why our coaching programs and trainings help companies create workplaces where caregivers can actually thrive—instead of just running on fumes and their amazing multitasking skills. We’re honored to be included alongside so many other powerful female founders who are redefining our world. Let’s keep building a future that works for all of us. #FemaleFounders #WorkingParents #LUMO
Startup founder, Motherly + Founding Women ?? | Growth consultant ?? | EIR @ Georgetown ?? | I help female founders + female-focused businesses to grow ?? | Mom X 5 ??
"We are living in a male-designed world." - Sara Blakely, the youngest self-made female billionaire at today’s Female Founders Day conference in NYC. I couldn’t have said it better. Because when you step back and look at the structures shaping our lives, it’s obvious: —School schedules weren’t built for modern mothers—they were designed for an era when a stay-at-home mom was the assumed default. —Corporate culture didn’t just happen to exclude women—it was created in a way that made work and caregiving nearly impossible to balance. —Female founders struggle to get funding—not because their ideas aren’t brilliant, but because the (mostly male) investors don’t see the value in businesses solving women’s biggest challenges. —Women leave the workforce not because they necessarily lack ambition, but because childcare costs the majority of their salaries—another symptom of a political system that refuses to invest in women and families. This world wasn’t built with women in mind. But here’s the thing that lights me up every single day: We are the ones rebuilding it. The most inspiring leaders I know? Female founders. Especially the mothers. The ones who are raising the next generation while launching companies that solve real, human problems. The ones who lead with wisdom, meaning, and mission—because they don’t have time for anything less. ? Ashley Change building Sundays as a VA service to support working parents manage the “all” "in having it all." Babba (Canales) Rivera at Ceremonia building a Latinx-inspired clean beauty business while raising 4 kids. Erin Gallagher leading a Hype Women movement to embolden trailblazers to blast past fear of failure or criticism. Julia Kim at Sanu Postpartum Retreat giving brand new mothers the postpartum wellness experience they deserve. Kelly Hubbell at Sage Haus helping parents to delegate household tasks they’ve never seen delegated before—and to enjoy life more. Sarah Bernier Olin, PCC Elena Arecco Bridgmon, MBA, PCC at LUMO, crafting transformative coaching solutions for employers wanting to support working parents. + and literally millions more female founders. These markets are huge. The needs are great. It’s such inspiring energy to be around, and an incredible movement to be a part of. And we won’t stop until the world is designed for all of us. Sarah is right, this world was designed for men. But it’s been such a joy to be a part of the great redesign. — ?? Dear Guilty, But Not as Charged: Hot damn, you’ve conquered Mom Guilt! That deserves a victory lap! Now let’s look at this new flavor of guilt. To me, guilt is one of those sneaky emotions - one that says “look at me!” - but isn’t really giving the full story. What if guilt were the dashboard light on your car? It’s signaling something worth checking out, but it doesn’t necessarily mean something is broken. When you feel guilty about enjoying your European work trips while your partner juggles the home circus, ask yourself: Is this feeling a useful alert about an imbalance that needs addressing, or is it a habitual thought pattern you’re using against yourself? Listen, partner guilt works exactly like its mommy cousin—it’s sneaky, persuasive, and completely beatable. A few practices to break up with partner guilt: Start by calling it out when it crashes your mental party: “Well hello there, unhelpful thought!” Then get curious about what’s underneath it: “What is this really about?” Have a real talk with your partner about the arrangement. Is it a win-win? Create a post-trip tradition that acknowledges their solo-parenting marathon. Remember that your career joy isn’t something to apologize for—it’s rocket fuel for your whole family! You’re showing your kids what a passionate, fulfilled adult looks like (and that’s worth its weight in European chocolate). If your best friend told you she felt bad about her annual work adventure, you’d probably tell her to snap a selfie from her business dinner and enjoy every magnificent second. Trust Your Bestie, Coach Sarah Bernier Olin, PCC

Dear Tactless, You describe yourself as not being an empathic person, but your willingness to look at how best to support your report means that you actually are. The good news is that our capacity for empathy is a skill that can be practiced and expanded. This situation requires balancing humanity with practical needs—something even the most empathetic leaders struggle with. Instead of viewing this as two separate conversations (the “caring” part and the “work” part), try an integrated approach: Start with genuine concern: “I want you to know your health comes first.” Create psychological safety: “Let’s figure out a transition plan that works for you and the team. You set the pace for this conversation.” Listen actively: When they share concerns or needs, acknowledge them before moving to solutions. Be specific about support: Rather than asking “How can I help?” offer concrete options: “Would it help if I scheduled regular check-ins while you’re out, or would you prefer space?” For the work transition, try: “Which projects are causing you the most stress when you think about stepping away?” “What information would help your temporary replacement succeed?” “Is there anyone on the team you’d recommend to take point on specific projects?” Sometimes the most meaningful support comes from leaders who thoughtfully navigate difficult conversations rather than those who naturally say the “perfect” thing. You’ve got this, Coach Sheila Storrer, LICSW, PCC
