It’s always gratifying to get on site and see how an industrial project comes together — and how our insights and technical expertise are woven into an operation. Such was the case as #LummusConsultants visited 3 Rivers Energy Partners’ Bluegrass Renewable Fuels project in Boston, KY. The project will convert spent distiller’s grains from Jim Beam's Booker Noe Distillery into #renewable #naturalgas for use in their new and expanded boilers, allowing the distiller to shut down its existing coal-fired boilers. #Lummus Consultants is contracted by 3 Rivers Energy Partners on behalf of its lenders to provide independent technical, #environmental and social #advisory services along with due diligence and construction monitoring for the project. Project Update:?Lummus Consultants is serving as the independent engineer, advising the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) on its recently closed $1.52 billion dollar loan guarantee to restart the Palisades Nuclear Plant in Covert, Michigan. The 800 MW #nuclear plant was shut down in 2022 but will become the first nuclear plant in U.S. history to be restarted after an intended permanent shutdown. The restart is part of a broader initiative by the DOE to #decarbonize the electrical #power generation sector. We will serve as the DOE’s independent engineer throughout the restart, project execution and operational monitoring phases of the project.
