Founder & CEO of Luminoah | TEDx Speaker | Transforming Tube Feeding

Eating is a privilege many take for granted, yet millions face challenges. In 2019, our 3-year-old son, Noah, was diagnosed with a life-threatening cancer that made swallowing unsafe. Tube feeding became his lifeline. Noah spent his mornings in the hospital receiving chemo and his afternoons at home helping us in the garden. Though he couldn’t eat, he found joy in harvesting vegetables and cooking with the family. It was a difficult reality for all of us. Noah’s journey underscored the urgent need for innovation in enteral nutrition. It’s not just about survival—it’s about improving quality of life, independence, and dignity. Five years later, as we recognize #FeedingTubeAwarenessWeek and #WorldCancerDay, our commitment at Luminoah to reimagining enteral nutrition remains unwavering. Everyone deserves access to the nutrition they need to thrive and the opportunity to live fully. We are grateful to healthcare providers and clinical nutritionists for their dedication to raising awareness, advancing care, and supporting the tube feeding community.

This week at #JPM2025, I had the opportunity to speak about Luminoah and strategies for raising capital in today’s market alongside: ? Maria Berkman, MD, MBA (Broadview Ventures Inc) ? Mike Kramer (Vensana Capital) ? Jeff Peters (OrbiMed) ? Derek Rapp (RiverVest Venture Partners) ? Adam Kadlec (Rivermark Medical, Inc.) ? Michael Liang (InVivium Capital) 2025 is a year of optimism for dealmaking. According to a recent Jefferies report, 72% of respondents anticipate increased M&A activity in 2025, with Institutional Investors and Corporates more bullish versus last year. Special thanks to Phillip Ebner and Brett Shealy from JPMorgan Chase Commercial Banking for bringing us together during the JP Morgan Annual Healthcare Conference and for your ongoing support for the life sciences community.

Did You Know? 20% of Cancer Patients Die from Malnutrition In our latest medDesign by Trig podcast episode, Neal Piper, founder of Luminoah, shares a heartbreaking and eye-opening reality: malnutrition claims the lives of 20% of cancer patients—not the disease itself. Neal highlights the outdated and fragmented technology currently used in tube feeding. From handwritten feeding logs to sugary formulas with no nutritional value for specific disease states, Neal’s personal experience as a parent led him to question and ultimately disrupt the status quo. With a background in global healthcare and years at Pfizer, Neal combined his expertise with his family’s journey to create Luminoah—a company dedicated to transforming pediatric nutrition and tube feeding technology. This conversation is more than just innovation; it’s about patient advocacy, resilience, and the mission to give patients and families a brighter future. Watch the full episode to hear Neal's powerful story and his vision for improving lives through smarter, more personalized healthcare solutions. Malnutrition is a silent threat that weakens your ability to fight illness and delays recovery. Cancer patients are especially vulnerable to malnutrition, with treatment side effects like difficulty swallowing, diarrhea, vomiting, and extreme fatigue severely impacting nutritional intake. This Malnutrition Awareness Week— The American Society for Parenteral & Enteral Nutrition (ASPEN) recommends that cancer patients and their caregivers closely monitor nutritional intake and consult healthcare providers if they notice signs such as weight loss, reduced food intake, or persistent diarrhea. Take action today—nutrition is a vital part of the fight against cancer. #aspenmaw24 https://lnkd.in/eQdKYtE8
