In honor of March being Women's History Month and with International Women's Day having been this past Saturday, we reflect on the growing influence of female artists in the music industry. In Luminate’s 2024 Year-End Music Report, we noted that solo female Pop artists made up 63.4% of overall streaming share when ranking the genre’s Top 100 artists. In our findings we found female artists drove 69% of the ODA streaming share (an increase of 11.7 percentage points from 2023 and a prominent 102.8% streaming growth since 2020). Zooming in on the Top 10, we see an even more remarkable trend: seven of the Top 10 Pop artists in 2024, based on current releases, are women, and collectively account for 82% of the streaming share. The rise of female representation in the Top 10 reflects how women are contributing new perspectives and energy to the current Pop music landscape. This week we brought all of Luminate together for our second ever company offsite, Lumination. Over half of the attendees were not with us last time in 2022, either through the expansion of our Engineering (and other) teams or the two acquisitions we've made since then, Quansic and Variety VIP+. The event was a invaluable reminder of the power of in person connection and re-energized me for building the next chapters of this business with this incredible team. Thank you to everyone who travelled from all over the US and France to join us in LA and to our phenomenal outside speakers and contributors, Dolores Tersigni, Carolyn Bisson, Stoltz Jeff, Hernan Lopez and Michael Nash.

In what can best be described as a lackluster Super Bowl from a football perspective, most chatter coming out of the big game centered around Kendrick Lamar’s historic halftime performance. Praised by many as a masterful artistic achievement, it also served as a decisive and emphatic exclamation point to a long-running rap beef. And when it comes to star power, Lamar's influence is undeniable — according to Luminate Insights, his fans are 32% more likely to tune into a TV show if he’s performing, proving that they will show up regardless of the stage.
