I probably struck a nerve with some of you on Wednesday ?? If you've ever asked your date any of the questions I covered in my last post, I'd guess you didn't get another date. So whether you're struggling to land second dates or you're done playing detective to figure out what people say vs. what they really mean, Here's my third and final post on decoding hypocrisy. Picking up where we left off... #5: "My ex was crazy, a drama queen, a narcissist, etc..." This is the biggest red flag for me! If your date spends your time together bashing their ex instead of getting to know you, please recognize they'll be playing the victim forever. And there's a good chance they aren't over their ex yet. ?? #6: "What are you looking for in a partner?" If your date asks you this, just know they're trying to assess your boundaries, expectations, and non-negotiables. Okay, this one isn't outrightly insidious, but manipulators sometimes use this question to determine how easily you can be controlled. ?? So be vigilant and look out for other red flags if you come across this question on a date. #7: "I'm just looking to have some fun right now" This is your date's way of trying to gently let you down. ?? What they're really saying is that they aren't looking for commitment, and are probably just trying to hookup. If your date says this, don't expect anything more than a situationship. #8: "My sex same friend is like my sister or brother" ?????? Your date is letting you know up front that their relationship with their friend will always come before their relationship with you! I am a huge advocate of couples having friends and life outside of each other, but making a first date about your BFF is a red flag. Just know that you'll probably be playing second fiddle to their friend if you decide to pursue the relationship. #9: "I'm glad we did this, we should get together again... sometime."?? The "sometime" in this statement is the tell-all. Your date is probably just being polite and has no real intention of planning another date with you. If someone says this on a first date, don't be expecting a second. ....And that's a wrap!
