CVSA Roadcheck 2025 has serious hidden danger for the unprepared. The two categories for the roadcheck are tires and HOS. Officers will be focusing on false logs during the driver portion of the inspection. This is part of an ongoing change in hour of service focus. Companies that are not properly auditing their drivers logs and drivers who believe they've found magical ways to cheat their hours, are at serious risk. Expect most logs to be transmitted through the ERODS system. According to the CVSA they will be looking at: Tampering, including driving while not logged in or disconnecting the ELD; Ghost drivers; Improper use of personal conveyance; Improper use of other special categories such as adverse driving; Recording off duty time while performing work. Every carrier must have robust HOS policies and a log auditing program to find and correct issues before law enforcement does. Repeated roadside violations will eventually result in an in house audit. HOS is a stand-alone CSA category. Failing an audit in HOS will result in your safety score being downgraded. Having any score other than satisfactory will result in the almost immediate loss of freight. Most brokers and shippers will not contract a carrier having a probationary or unsatisfactory safety rating. I will be happy to share my daily log auditing plan if you ask. You can use it as a template to create your own. With the Roadcheck two months away there is still time to be prepared for it and on into the future.
