关于我们
Ludwig Cancer Research is an international collaborative network of acclaimed scientists that has pioneered cancer research and landmark discovery for more than 40 years. Ludwig combines basic science with the ability to translate its discoveries and conduct clinical trials to accelerate the development of new cancer diagnostics and therapies. Since 1971, Ludwig has invested $2.7 billion in life-changing science through the not-for-profit Ludwig Institute for Cancer Research and the six U.S.-based Ludwig Centers. Researchers led by Ludwig University of Lausanne’s Leire Bejarano and Johanna Joyce conducted a searching, comparative analysis of individual cells that compose the blood-brain barrier across healthy brain tissue, high- and low-grade primary brain tumors and brain metastases. They report that alterations in tumor-feeding blood vessels are far more pronounced in metastatic brain tumors than in gliomas, with the former showing higher permeability and interactions with distinct immune cell populations. Their high-resolution vascular atlas lays a foundation for the development of novel vascular- and immune-targeting therapies for brain tumors. https://bit.ly/4bFqwYY

CRISPR-Cas9 gene engineering allows scientists to swiftly and precisely add, modify or replace DNA sequences and entire genes for research or, increasingly, cutting-edge therapies—including cancer immunotherapy. A team led by Ludwig University of Lausanne’s Melita Irving and Bernhard Gentner report here a protocol to more precisely engineer the receptors expressed by T cells to target specific cancer antigens for therapy. Their method, which generated stable and potent therapeutic T cells, meets the stringent (GMP) manufacturing standards required of products destined for clinical use. https://bit.ly/4kyTGx0
