Fantastic day at Thorne Middle School in Middletown - Dennis’ alma mater! Look at how much they collected for our deployed troops! Today they helped us sort and box everything up in the cafeteria so the Memorial Fund could ship it out to our service members overseas. Our Dennis, Marion, and Matt Zilinski enjoyed speaking with about 200 students about the sacrifices of military families to protect our freedom, a fact that sadly we know all too well. This event was a two way educational moment! Unexpectingly, the 6th graders shared with LT. Dennis W. Zilinski II Memorial Fund their abundant knowledge of #militaryservice and #servicedogs. Nearly two thirds had family members that were former and or current #servicemembers, from #WWII to the Global War on Terrorism and everything in between. The joy and pride they displayed as the spoke was nothing short of warming. Recognizing the difference in #deployments throughout the decades of our own board members from Vietnam, Iraq, Afghanistan to Syria, highlight the importance of programs like #Markhamcares. The generous donations collected from students, their families, and staff - including snacks, drink mixes, and self care items - will now be boxed up and shipped to our deployed troops serving overseas. WOW!! Thank you to the CBA students, families, and staff who raised more than $48,000 for The Lt. Dennis W. Zilinski, II Memorial Fund with its 2nd Annual “Row with Dennis” event today in honor of our Dennis! The funds will assist us with the training of service dogs to pair with wounded warriors. It will also help us support our deployed American troops. Row with Dennis was an ergathon which is a fundraising event where teams of rowers compete against each other. Stationary rowing machines are connected and electronically monitored. The event founder, CBA senior, Jack Keavey, passed the torch down this year to three of his classmates, Kieran Feeney, Henry Kreitz, and Finn Buckley. Thank you to all! Simply amazing!
