Listing all of Lynn Steven's accomplishments is next to impossible. In just over 15 years in the Shreveport-Bossier area, she impacted organizations big and small and fully immersed herself in the community. She served as the Chief Administrator at Providence House- Shreveport, the Chief Operation Office of the United Way of Northwest Louisiana, and the Director of Workforce Development for Goodwill Industries. Beyond her official appointments, she was heavily involved with a number of other organizations, such as the City of Shreveport Mayor's ADA Advisory Council, Bossier Chamber of Commerce Youth Leadership Committee, Caddo Parish School Board Family and Community Advisory Council, Christus Health Advisory Board, and even here at INAR as a capacity Building cohort mentor. If you would like to celebrate Lynn's robust and driven personality, there will be a Celebration of Life Services on Saturday, November 30, at 10:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church in Shreveport, with Ministers Al Dwyer and Lee Jeter Officiating. The family requests that instead of flowers, donations be made to the Bossier City Rotary Club or, in Lynn's honor, to LSUS's Institute for Nonprofit Administration and Research's capacity-building cohort. We are beyond humbled and grateful that Lynn is giving back and building up the community she believed in even now. You can read more about Lynn's incredible life at https://lnkd.in/eX-SNR4G If you would like to donate in Lynn's honor, you can use the link below. https://bit.ly/3Z4o3S2

The nonprofit world dimmed over the weekend with the passing of a true icon of charity, giving back, and community. Lynn Nelson-Stevens was a champion of nonprofits large and small, and everyone knew her. How she was able to find the time to help so many people and organizations is beyond imaginable. We here at INAR were lucky to have her guidance and mentorship. Thanks to her incredible network, Lynn connected us with countless people throughout the state. Her dedication to service and sharing knowledge was irresistibly contagious and pushed us to be better every day. Whenever we needed advice, we could count on Lynn. It's impossible to list all the ways she helped us and countless others. Lynn, you will be missed, but your spirit will live on in the work we do every day. ??

Going to the ARNOVA conference is always a highlight of the year. This year marks the 53rd annual conference and it is designed to create a public conversation, as well as opportunities for presenting research about, pressing issues and vital opportunities facing the voluntary or nonprofit sector. This year two of our very own are presenting at ARNOVA! Dr. Zeeshan Noor, Professor and MSNPA Program Director, and Dr. Chen Ji, MSNPA Professor, are both presenting throughout the conference. INAR itself is also exhibitor, which is so exciting, and we are very grateful. The Association for Research on Nonprofit Organizations and Voluntary Action (ARNOVA) is a diverse community of scholars, educators, philanthropists, and practice leaders focused on strengthening the field of nonprofit and philanthropic research to improve civil society and human life. The work and community ARNOVA fosters and supports is deeply beneficial in the #nonprofit space. Thanks for having us! LSU Shreveport #arnova24 #conference #community #learning

On November 12th, we had an amazing time at the Healthy Blue Community Leaders Breakfast here at LSU Shreveport with our very Dr. Heather Carpenter co-hosting! We kicked things off with a warm welcome from LSUS Chancellor Dr. Robert Smith, who shared his support for the work. The highlight of the morning was hearing from Ms. Wyolonda Hall, former Shreve-Memorial Library branch manager and current Healthy Blue member. Wyolonda shared her personal story of transitioning from a community partner to a Medicaid member after being diagnosed with cancer, giving a powerful firsthand look at how Healthy Blue makes a difference. We were joined by Goodwill Industries, The Salvation Army, Volunteers of America, and more community organizations, all of whom play a key role in making sure people have access to the resources they need. This breakfast was such a great opportunity to connect, learn, and spread the word about everything Healthy Blue offers, especially during this important open enrollment season. ?? Thanks to everyone who came out and continues to support these efforts! ?? #HealthyBlue #CommunityLeadership #OpenEnrollment #Medicaid #StrongerTogether #HealthyCommunities #LSUS

?? Exciting News! ?? Our SPOD Chair, Zeeshan Noor, Ph.D., has just co-authored a groundbreaking article with Leigh Hersey! This study reviews 48 articles through Lovejoy & Saxton’s (2012) "Hierarchy of Engagement" framework, shedding light on the untapped potential of #SocialMedia in philanthropy. Despite social platforms' wide reach, the study finds that these tools are still underutilized for advancing philanthropic engagement. Check it out to learn how we can better leverage social media for community impact and meaningful engagement. #Research #Philanthropy #CommunityEngagement #AI #SocialMedia #SPOD https://lnkd.in/ebU5c33v

Today is an extra special day in the #nonprofit #world. It's ??NATIONAL PHILANTHROPY DAY??! Now what does that mean? Well simply put, it is a day to honor and recognize the incredible power and change of giving. All over the world people give to the causes and organizations they #believe in, and every day those gifts shape the future! The Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP Global) holds events every year on November 15th and we got to attend one today! There was so much energy in that room and we loved it. #fundraising #change #nonprofits #giving #PHILANTHROPY LSU Shreveport
