LSU Electrical & Computer Engineering PhD student Farshad Amani recently attended the 2025 IEEE Texas Power and Energy Conference (TPEC) where he won the Best Poster Award for his work on “Quantum Optimal Power Flow.” The poster highlighted the latest advancements in quantum computing for OPF solutions, demonstrating how quantum computation can enhance the efficiency of classical algorithms. “By leverage quantum techniques, our approach aims to accelerate optimization processes significantly, improving solution speed for OPF,” Amani said.

LSU Craft & Hawkins Department of Petroleum Engineering senior Jackson Dreffs is heading to Houston! After internships with Hilcorp and Halliburton, he’s accepted a job as a wells engineer with bp.
